LUNA MARIE FOUND HERSELF admiring the decorating skills her sister had. it made sense that kaci wanted to decorate homes. not only was she independent and could easily own a business, but she had obvious talent.

the look of christmas decorations reminded luna of how much she missed being with her mini-family of friends.

"guys, i have a surprise!" kaci shouted, following behind luna after she closed the front door.

luna took off her winter boots and coat, feeling slightly nervous about seeing her friends for the first time since she'd left months ago.

luna was supposed to fly out for thanksgiving, but felt too nervous and awkward. however, she told everyone that her grandparents needed help organizing an event for their church for thanksgiving. it wasn't a complete lie; they definitely appreciated the extra hand.

"what is it?" nova's familiar voice lit up the entire house.

kaci motioned for luna to keep walking through the house. luckily, she still remembered her way around.

the twins soon reached the living room and all the girls were joking around and smiling until it felt like everything froze.

luna glanced at each of them, grinning a bit at how each of them looked so astonished.

"LU!" kyla scrambled up and ran to the entrance for a hug.
"i'm so psyched that you're back!"

"only for christmas," luna reminded her, laughing and hugging back.

"yeah, right." kyla barely acknowledged the statement. luna figured it was because she was so excited, too bad she wasn't correct. she then let go of luna, standing off to luna's right, beside kaci.

"how was canada? you barely talked in the group chats!" ariel exclaimed, smiling as well.

"technically she left the ch–" nova was interrupted by an unfamiliar face. luna scanned them, not recognizing the girl at all.

"what's goin on?" the dark haired girl asked awkwardly.

"oh yeah! dylan, you remember luna right? lu, thats dylan airheart." kaci introduced the two girls, both of their eyes flashing with recognition.

"OH," luna's eyebrows raised. she felt unsure of the situation. seeing dylan so mature, compared to just a year prior when she acted as taylor's puppy.

luna didn't think things could've gotten more awkward. wrong again.

dylan went in for a hug, but seconds before luna saw tears i her eyes. "i'm sorry for the years of torture taylor, jordyn and i gave you. you didn't deserve that."

luna stood in shock, not knowing how to respond.

dylan was extremely right. their gang put her through nights of questioning her worth; nights of crying instead of being with friends and nights where she contemplated terrible things.

but was dylan able to be forgiven? probably. she never did do too much within the whole bulling ordeal.

luna felt herself being taken back to high school. the memories of taylor and jordyn taunting her, insulting her and throwing her around in the halls... yet dylan stood there and watched like a scared puppy who was attempting to be trained without knowledge.

luna finally gave in. after all, christmas was about family, so forgiving dylan felt like a good deed.

"it's okay," she sighed, wrapping her arms around the petite girl.

soon enough, to luna's luck, their moment ended and they separated.

"seriously, luna, we missed y–"
sabrina got interrupted by the doorbell and the sound of rowdy children.

the boys; luna thought.

she didn't even think of how daniel was a part of the boys.

luna hadn't thought of daniel after a night at the bar with old friends she'd made. they convinced her to forget about his 'dumbass self'.

nobody seemed to notice that kaci had migrated to the kitchen and was working on dinner. "someone answer the goddamn door!"

luna fake-sighed. "fine," she joked, acting like a whiny little kid.

she walked over to the front door, not too many feet away, and pulled it open, only to see a group of boys. the boys.

first, zach; beside zach was jack; behind jack was jonah and corbyn; and behind them, eben and daniel.

luna felt her eyes narrow at the thought of daniel. he was a prick, just like kaci had said multiple times.

goodbye, slut.

he didn't even have to say it for luna to be reminded of his rude text. he was disgusting.

"uh, luna?" zach's voice was laced with multiple different tones, confusion being most dominant. nevertheless it snapped luna back to reality.

"right, right." she took her gaze off daniel and let the boys in.

that would be where the awkwardness ends, right?

wrong again.

luna watched each of the boys enter and take their winter attire off before greeting her properly and leaving to the living room.

eben of course took the longest, hugging luna and joking around with her.

when daniel finally entered though, luna noticed one thing she hadn't before. jordyn larselle on daniel's arm.

"luna! how nice to see you!"
