LUNA NEVER DID know before whether or not she'd really leave.

not when taylor first started the rumours, not when she cried in bed at night and not even when she was packing to leave.

but when eben, nova, kyla, zach, kaci and jack walked luna into the airport, everything became much more real to her.

the others with their suitcases and families, saying goodbye; the captains strolling around; not to mention the airplanes viewed out of a window.

"for whatever it's worth, i believed you were innocent the whole time– and i still do!" zach breaks the silent tension as the group stands outside the security.

"he really did. texted me aggravated about it constantly," kyla laughed absentmindedly.

"hey! i made that hashtag and it trended number one for almost a full day." jack threw his hands up, giving everyone a look as though to say "don't forget about me"! and boy, they wouldn't.

luna laughed for the first time in what felt like forever.

"don't act like some sort of saint," kaci imputed quickly, giving jack a look of her own. "you almost believed taylor at first so."

"so," jack mocked, throwing his hands around to emphasize it. kaci glared playfully and smacked him, earning another stifled laugh from luna. she knew she'd miss those two and their constant banter.

she also knew they were basically soulmates, if those even existed.

"flight number 170 is now boarding!"

luna looked to eben and nova first. by the looks of it, nova was holding eben together; she was the reason he hadn't burst into tears. nova was hooked on his arm, only letting go because she knew that it was becoming a family moment.

eben soon engulfed luna in a hug, kaci deciding to make it a group hug.

"you can still stay, y'know..." eben tried desperately.

luna offered him a chuckle. "no, this isn't where i belong right now."

pulling apart, kaci scoffed. "did taylor tell you that? you belong wherever you want to be, lu."

luna glanced at the rest of her company and shrugged. it was too late not to leave now and the further from taylor
she was, the happier she'd be.

"goodbye," kyla sighed, hugging luna too. "i'll be waiting for you to come back and visit during christmas and thanksgiving and halloween and easter and–"

"so every month?" luna asked, smiling at her best friends silliness only to receive a reluctant nod from kyla.

"you should probably go, you're gonna miss your flight..." jack brought everyone back to reality.

"jack hush, we were trying to get luna to miss her flight!" kaci smacked his arm jokingly while luna casted her a playful glare.

"we'll all miss you loads, lu." nova reminded the blonde.

"i know. i'll visit though."

"you damn well better," zach's voice had come out hoarse, lile he was going to cry. the water welling up in his eyes let luna know it was the correct assumption.

"zachary dean," luna frowned.
"i'll miss you the most."

"hey!" the rest of the gang shouted in unison.

"but seriously," luna stared down at her feet.

walking away meant she'd be leaving people she cared loads about; but it also meant being away from the limelight and away from taylor. perhaps without luna, the gang would have less drama anyways?

"i should be going."

with one last hug and goodbye from everyone, luna was walking away from the group and into the security part of the airport. they didn't dare look away to see if she turned back a last time or maybe changed her mind. but she didn't. she walked through without a last glance.

"WAIT!"
