The day you left
I hated the sunset
I hated the way different shades would combine
I hated the way memories would flash right between my eyes whenever i look at the sky
The day you left
I stopped playing the piano
I stopped playing melodies and chords
Because whenever I play, i feel the same way I felt about you before
The day you left I deleted it all
The poems I wrote, the stories I created and the dog videos I saved for you— everything
I took down our pictures on my wall
The screenshots of our late night calls
The cards you wrote for me on Valentine's and on my birthday
I blamed myself because I was not enough
I was not enough for you so you walked away
They day you left there was a broken faucet
A broken faucet that cannot stop water from falling out of it
My eyes was the broken faucet
I took out a box of pictures
Pictures of my friends and I
You were not there
I saw myself smiling
Smiling bright like a diamond
It dawned on me
You were just a phase
You were never my one that got away
Because you were never mine in the first place
They day you left
I knew you were not coming back
I stopped playing the piano
Because I loved the sound of my guitar whenever I strum it
The day you left
And will never come back
I hated the sunset
Because I started to appreciate the sunrise more
Loki once said
Brother, the sun will shine on us again
And it did
