"What do you want to eat Mama?" Ella was sitting across from me, we were waiting for Christian to arrive. Ella searched through the menu, raising an eyebrow confused as to what she should get. "Can I get some pancakes, Mommy?"
"Sure thing, baby girl" I smiled, closing our menus as the waiter came walking towards our table.
"Welcome to IHOP, I am Brian and I'll be your waiter today." Brian opened up his notepad. "Can I start you two off with some drinks?"
I nodded my head. "We will both take some orange juice, thank you."
Brian wrote down our drink orders on his notepad. "Are you ready to order or would you like a few more minutes?"
"I'm ready," I said. "Um- I'll take the Spinach and Mushroom omelet and the Silver 5."
"Alright, so what I have is two orange juices and a spinach and mushroom omelet with the silver 5 for the little one, am I correct?"
"Yes, sir." I smiled, as he nodded his head.
"Alright, I will be back shortly with your order," He smiled before walking away after a few minutes of us sitting there Christian walked over towards our table smiling.
"It's great to see you again," Christian smiled at me only to have his eyes glance over at Ella. He was sitting there smiling at her like he didn't know what to say or do. "Hey, young lady."
Ella just stared at him, she knew not to talk to strangers. "It's okay baby girl, you can say hello," I said.
"Hi," Ella smiled, causing Christian to smile even more.
Christian took a seat beside me, as he watched Ella color on the little coloring pages that they left on the table. "So, your mommy told me that you like playing with Barbie dolls." Christian pulled the doll from out of the bag before handing it over towards her. "I didn't know which one to get you so I got you this one."
Ella's eyes grew wider, she was in complete shock. "Wow, thank you!" Ella grabbed the toy before showing it off to me. "Mommy, look at my new Barbie doll."
"I see," I smiled, I love to see my daughter being overly excited about the smallest things. "Thank you for buying this for her, but you didn't have to do that."
"It's not a problem," Christian smiled. "I'm glad that you like it, little miss Ella."
Ella smiled, before taking the toy out of the box. "How do you know my mommy?" Ella asked, kind of throwing Christian off guard.
"Well, Christian and I are good friends," I explained. "We used to know each other when I was in high school. You remember when I use to tell you old stories about when you were just a little baby?"
"Yes," Ella answered, still admiring her barbie doll. "I'm Ella, what's your name?"
"You have a pretty name, Ella," Christian said, I knew he was nervous because he wasn't really doing anything but staring at her. "I'm Christian."
"Thank you," Ella smiled, causing me to smile. I still haven't figured out a way to tell her who Christian really was. I think they still need some more time to get to know each other before that could happen. "And, mommy why didn't he come to visit us?"
She was asking me questions that I didn't even have an answer for. "He was really busy, but he's here now and wanted to meet you."
"I had a lot of things on my plate but I thought it was finally time to reconnect with my old friend, and I've heard a lot about you and I wanted to meet the Ella that I heard a lot about."
