Hoseok looked across the coastline, jagged and romantic, the setting sun streaking purple and gold across the sky. The sea seemed to bleed into the sky where rainclouds met the horizon, and the wind whipping across it sent excited shivers down Hoseok's spine. He turned away from the sea to see Yoongi, buried in coats and scarves, scowling and dragging his feet.
"Come on, my love. We're close to the top now!" The crag before them craned steeply into the multicoloured sky.
"How do you have this much energy? It's almost 4 and it's winter in England. This isn't the place for exuberance." Yoongi huffed, his words muffled by his pout and by the scarf covering his face.
"Because England doesn't have a very strong sun so they need me to be their sunshine. Besides, this place is beautiful!" Hoseok sang, adjusting Yoongi's layers and quickly kissing his cheek.
"It's cold." Yoongi said grumpily.
"And it'll be even colder at the top won't that be fun!" Hoseok laughed, skipping away up the steep path.
Yoongi watched his sunshine bouncing away, and smiled despite himself. He couldn't help but love this weird, energetic man. He decided to stop moaning and climb the hill quickly so he could get home to his bed and some nice hot chocolate.
As he reached the summit a small gasp escaped his lips. There, in front of that stunning precipice overlooking the sparkling sea and cold November sunset, was his love, sat in a half ruined watch tower draped in fairy lights. Hoseok was sat square in the middle of a picnic blanket, with a big pile of blankets next to him ready to turn Yoongi into a very cute cuddle burrito.
"I wasn't lying. It is a lot colder up here. But fortunately the wind is coming from the west, so it's not as bad if you sit here by this wall."
Hoseok said, gesturing."How..." Yoongi stuttered in disbelief.
"This is Rembalt Tower. William the Conqueror ordered its construction during his takeover of the west country, and it was rebuilt in stone during the reign of King Richard the Second. It's a gorgeous place but it's hard to get to so it's usually deserted, especially in winter, and I thought it might be a nice place for a picnic so I brought this stuff up earlier to surprise you.""Consider me surprised." Yoongi stood a little dumbfounded. He never knew what to do when people cared for him. It was too much and he didn't know what to say or how to react. He usually became sullen.
"Come sit down and I'll warm you up with some blankets and hot chocolate." Hoseok said, pulling a flask out of a wicker basket next to him.
Yoongi walked towards him purposefully, took a shoulder in one hand and his chin in another, bringing his face towards his own. He kissed him, deeply and vulnerably. He let their lips part and rested his forehead on Hoseok's their chests rising in time with their accelerated breath.
"I love you, Hoseok."
Hoseok kissed Yoongi's neck softly. "I love you too. Now come warm up, your skin is like ice."
They drank Hoseok's hot chocolate and ate the biscuits and chocolates he'd brought snuggled up, looking up through the broken roof at the emerging stars. They chatted about nothing, and then they gave each other kisses, and then they watched the stars in silence, the sound of their own intermingling breathing a beautiful enough soundtrack to this blissful moment. But, as they lay there, a thick cloud started to cover the stars, and great spots of water began to fall on their faces.
"Is it raining?" Yoongi asked dumbly, opening his sleepy eyes a little wider. "Hoseok, it's raining! We have to get back to the cottage!"
"Oh shit!" They scrambled the food back into the basket and shoved it and the extra blankets into a nook of the structure. "We can come get them tomorrow when we're not soaked!" Hoseok yelled against the now torrential rain.
"How quickly can stupid rain even get this damn heavy? The weather was perfect not 5 minutes ago!" Yoongi shouted back as they stumbled down the hill path back towards their holiday cottage.
"Stupid fucking England!" Hoseok yelled back.
They rounded the corner back to the house, drenched. It had been a 40 minute walk to the top of the crag, so they'd been running full pelt in the rain for 20 minutes to get home. Hoseok struggled with the key, but finally they stumbled, dripping, into the warm inviting living room of the cottage.
"Hoseok go have a hot shower you need to warm up." Yoongi ordered.
Hoseok, tired and soaking, slumped off to the bathroom to do just that, while Yoongi peeled off his layers of coats and changed into clean pyjamas, putting Hoseok's on the radiator to get warm for when he was out of the shower. He put their shoes under the radiator and took their coats and scarves and hats to the airing cupboard, then made them both some hot cocoa, this time with all the comforts of not being in the wilderness, namely cream and marshmallows. By the time Hoseok was out of the shower and wrapped around the waist in a fluffy white towel, Yoongi had even had time to make a fire and was stood outside the bathroom ready with Hoseok's now-warm pyjamas."Hyung, what are you doing running around? You should be focussed on getting warm! Go have a shower." He took the pyjamas from the older boy's arms and went to go change.
"Wait!" Yoongi said, grabbing Hoseok by the wrist. Hoseok stumbled back against him. He looked into the other boy's eyes questioningly. Yoongi pulled the other boy towards him, burying his face in the other boy's neck and kissing him tenderly in the groove where his neck met his collarbones. "You can't walk out of a room shirtless and expect me not to notice." He planted a few more quick kisses sporadically across Hoseok's caramel collarbones before darting into the bathroom to shower. Hoseok smiled as he ran away. Yoongi may not like skinship from just anyone, but with Jung Hoseok he was a snuggle fiend.
Yoongi emerged from the bathroom, showered and in fresh pyjamas, looking only slightly less like a drowned squirrel than he had during the downpour. He sniffed and joined Hoseok on the sofa.
Yoongi rested his head against his boyfriend's shoulder, letting him drape a blanket around the elder's still shivering body. After tucking his love in tightly, Hoseok rested his head on Yoongi's, enjoying the feeling of the soft silky hair against his cheek. He couldn't resist the urge to kiss it messily every few minutes, eventually just smoothing his face into the soft locks as exhaustion made his muscles heavy and slow. The two fell asleep just like that and spent the night half in and out of sleep, watching the fire turn from a roar to an ember and feeling each other's bodies against their own. Safe.
(A/N: What do you guys think? Should I end it here? I was originally planning to add Suga being ill and Hobi having to look after him but I think that might be going on too much, let me know what you think in the comments and maybe I'll come back to this chapter)
