"Laila! Laila !!! Laaiiilaa!" It wasn't a dream, Laila jumped up from her little bed and tried to reach for her sword when aunt Masie bust into the room, she couldn't believe she overslept again especially not on a day like this, she'd lost track of time again while roaming around the fairy boarders that separated them from other nests with her friend caireann.
"You've spent over three months trying to convince me to join the fairy warriors even though I still believe its a waste of time, and then the day comes and you over sleep really! Laila really!?" aunt Masie said looking ready to strangle me while She frantically looked through my closets which didn't consist of much, she pulled out a little piece of clothing that'd allow me to pull out my wings which really only covered my bust and big loose pants. The fairies were always mocked by saying they were the immortal version of humans because they lived like humans which wasn't entirely wrong since they ate like humans dressed like humans and liked a lawful peaceful environment, Laila ran to clean up and looked at herself in the mirror and wished she hadn't, her curly black hair was a mess, she hurriedly brushed and put it in a bun at the top of her head, her brown skin looked darker than usual but she didn't mind it since she'd be spending a lot of time outdoors anyways, she cleaned up and went back to her room to see aunty masie unsurprisingly glaring at her.
"Listen miss I'm beginning to regret this decision already, you haven't even reached full immortality yet, I don't even know how you convinced me to agree to this" aunt masie said looking like she was ready to call it all off,
"you promised! One complaint from anyone and I'm out that was the deal" she pleaded "
"well that wont be long" I heard her mutter.
"well till then!"
"be home as soon as you're done, we have a lot of work to do, I have potions that need to be delivered today" she screamed back
"yes ma'am, I love you!" I saw her smile as she left
she hurriedly dressed up not putting on any make up, she didn't want to be taken unserious seeing as most males would make up the fighting squad, she ran out going straight to the open square where the practice would be taking place not bothering to stop by her bestfriends place knowing she wouldn't meet up with caireann as she was already late and caireann would have left already.
She was so excited to join the team, maybe she could finally be good at something, and gain some respect as well, having a faritch as your guardian didnt exactly come with much respect or love, she ran, jumped and flew at the same time having to apologize severally for bumping into people leaving fairy dust scattered all over the place as she flew, She would occasionally stop and watch people with their families, little kids happily practicing with fairy dust, couples flying together friends happily gossiping and play fighting, the only friend she had was caireann the other families didnt want to necessarily associate with her just in case she had witch blood, even though masie had made it clear she wasn't her mother.
she finally reached the location, it seemed like everyone was already practicing with their swords ready to impress the war leader Ros, she looked around for caireann but couldn't find her anywhere, she drew out her own sword suddenly feeling conscious of how it looked compared to the others hers reminded her of something she'd seen mortals use in pictures and books .
After what seemed like centuries of awkwardly standing alone with a dangling sword tucked at her waist she finally saw caireann who looked more lost than she did, she hastily started moving towards her suddenly excited again but before she got to her, she saw a guy making his way towards her, he had just gotten to her but before he could start a conversation, she jumped directly in front of caireann blocking him.
