Talon rolled over in his bed. Streams of light shone through his window.
"Your majesty! You must wake up now!" said a maid, standing over his bed. Talon shoved his head even deeper into his pillow. His bed was too comfortable to be left this early in the morning. He had all day to sit on his throne and do nothing. So, a few more minutes in bed wouldn't hurt anyone. However, his wishes weren't allowed to come to fruition. With a powerful gush of wind, Talons bedsheets came flying off. Talons eyes opened immediately, and he sat up straight. At the door of his chambers stood a woman with forest green eyes and fiery ginger hair. She wore brown robes made of silk. This woman was Kendrix, the chief advisor of queen Roselia and the royal sorcerous.
"Come now young prince," she said softly "You don't want to leave your mother waiting now do you?" she added smiling. Talon grinned and got out of bed. He went over to his wardrobe and took out and elegant purple robe with a golden trim. He then proceeded to the spiral staircase that lead to the throne room. Talon was the prince of Sillonia. Many years ago, a horrible war plagued the land. This war was between the humans and the darkness creatures. After a long time, the humans were triumphant but only through the help of the elves. But during the fight, Talons father had perished. Because of her loss, queen Roselia had become fearful of losing anyone else so she had tried to mould Talon into a perfect king and avoid any sort of conflict. But the life of sitting on a throne was not the kind of life that Talon sought. This was because Talon had received his fathers sense of adventure. Also, he had gotten his mother's stubbornness. And when you put those together, you would have a thirst for adventure that would only be quenched when you set out. Talon knew little to nothing about his father. His mother didn't talk about him often, which surprised Talon as it seemed as his mother loved his father with all her heart. Perhaps his mother was keeping secrets from him? However, he never pressured his mother into speaking about it, as he knew how hard of a subject it was for her. All he knew was that his father was a courageous and handsome man, who feared nothing. It had been 20 years since that bloody war and so far, peace had been maintained. Talon stepped into the throne room. It was a long room, decorated in curtains with the emblem of the realm. A wide, red carpet was stretched in the middle of the room. On top of it, stood a thick wooden table made of oak. It was a hexagon shaped table with two sides extended to make it as long as the carpet. At one end of the massive room stood two golden thrones, one bigger than the other. These of course belonged to Talon and his mother. One throne which was further away from the other two was covered by a sheet. Talon looked at it and smiled sadly.
"Ah! There you are Talon! 4 minutes late. A true king is never late to his duties!" said a voice. It was his mother, the queen. Talon scowled silently. If at any point he did something wrong, his mother would come at him with some 'words of wisdom'. Talon had never dared tell his mother that he didn't want to be king as he feared her reaction. He only feared it however, because he knew she'd say no and that was not the answer he wanted to hear. Talon resembled his mother greatly. He had her autumn brown hair and her pale skin. But there was one thing that made him look like his father and that was his eyes. They were blue. But it was a shade of blue that no one had except Talon. His eyes were so bright and vibrant that there isn't a word to classify them. His mother told him that sometimes when she looks at him she sees Talons father. But Talon didn't know if this was a good or bad thing exactly. On the one hand, it was good as it could remind his mother of her beloved. However, Talon feared that his mother was afraid that because she sees his father in his eyes that he will turn into his father and follow his footsteps. But she hadn't asked him what he wanted so Talon wasn't too worried. Talon sat down at the opposite side of the table to his mother. She wore a beautiful white and light green dress. On her head rested a shimmering tiara. Roselia smiled warmly at her son.
