It was an out-of-body experience, arriving at the wrought iron gates of what would be my new home. Walls towered around the massive property, casting gloomy shadows on the courtyard as we drove in. Above the gates, in large, elegant ivy-covered letters, read Garden of Eden.
Mrs. Something was quick to help me out of the car, directing me towards the large heavy doors at the entrance and telling me about the history of the building. I tried to listen, but there was so much to take in. The black marble entrance was more than intimidating, and I saw signs pointing upstairs to Guest Suites and Suitor Accommodations, whatever that meant, down the hall on the right was the Spa and Personal Wellness Boutique and, if you stepped into the sunken wet bar on the left, there was a discreet entryway into what was called the Parlour of Eden.
A ball of anxiety settled firmly at the sight of the black curtains there, and made me think back to Mrs. Something's words: it's a high end club, dear.
That's what she had said... right?
Maybe I was reading too much into it. I continued following along and found there were women everywhere. Beautiful, classy looking women at every turn, dressed to the nines in skirts and pantyhose and heels and blouses. One blonde girl with a clipboard was nodding and taking notes following a well-dressed business man, while another girl who had huge boobs was talking to a young man at the bar, laughing at every word he said. Girls as young as me and maybe younger all the way up to women in their thirties and forties could be found, and a few even smiled in my direction as I passed by. It was a lot to take in, and my tour guide talked until we got to a beautiful room on the 3rd floor.
"This will be your room." She smiled delicately. My jaw just about hit the lush carpet. The room was four times the size of my little room at the Fawk. It had hanging curtains and a chaise chair... at least, that's what I imagined a chaise chair to look like. All I had to go off of was what I had read. The dresser was huge, with a mirror bordered by small dazzling lights.
"This cannot be for me." I was dumbfounded.
"Oh, but it is! You'll get made up into a goddess at this mirror, and you'll impress every person who walks through the door." She gushed.
Looking around, I had no words. "Oh dear, look at the time. Yes well, we better be getting you off to your orientation. First day is a big one!"

I had been waiting for thirty minutes now. I had no idea who for, but I knew it was a he, and from the feel of this office, he was an important person here. Leather bound books with questionable titles lined one wall. Breaking the Unbreakable, one read. Successful Stationing, read another.
None of it made much sense to me.
Finally, in walked a very tall man wearing a black on black suit, his face was solemn, but his eyes were curious. I looked up at him from the chair I'd been waiting in, but he didn't sit down. He was good looking, I guess, but his demeanor made me instantly nervous.
He walked right up to me and said, "Stand." His voice had a touch of an accent. I did, hesitantly. He began walking around me, eyes narrowing as he looked me over.
"Sorry but, who are you?" I asked, I couldn't see the dangerous flicker in his eyes as I spoke. He came back around and stopped in front of me, eyes connecting with mine for the first time... the room suddenly felt colder.
"I'll give you one question, Eve. Since you're new." His dark voice was emotionless. "My name is Samuel. I oversee everything that happens here in Eden, and as long as you are here, you will not speak, unless spoken too." He finished cruelly. My mouth fell open.
