The morning light shone sweetly down upon us as we had our coffee with some granola bars. He informed me that he had much grander plans of taking me to a proper breakfast at a lodge nearby and I smiled shyly, saying nothing.
He was being so casual, but I was feeling raw; exposed and vulnerable. He had really stripped me bare last night and I don't just mean literally.
Dalton sat down beside me on the log and helped me tuck my oversized sweater around my shoulders. He wrapped his arms around me and held me close. "Last night was amazing. Thank you, angel." He kissed the top of my head and I finally felt warm again.
He let me go freshen up in the park bathroom while he packed the camping gear back onto the bike.
After a big breakfast at the rustic lodge; bacon, pancakes, eggs, sausages, hash browns, and fried veggies, with plenty of coffee on the side, I was feeling significantly better about life.
We decided to walk off our meal by exploring the falls nearby and we held hands as we walked in the sunlight together.
"I noticed your new watch." He commented casually.
"Damn right, wasn't about to wear the symbol of your broken promise." My face closed down; I could practically feel the cold shadow come over my happy countenance of a moment ago.
"Hey, I came back, didn't I? I'd call that a promise kept." He grinned cheekily at me as he slung his arm around me and pulled me close.
I shook my head, losing the fight against my smile. "What am I gonna do with you, Patricelli?"
"Marry me?" He looked up from the ground, into my eyes.
"What?" I choked on a laugh.
"You heard me."
I was chuckling tersely but feeling rather unamused again. "Do you even have a ring, crazy man?" I asked, turning to head back to the bike.
He pulled a little black box out of his pocket and tossed it at me.
I caught it out of sheer surprise.
He walked away from me at a leisurely pace, hands in his pockets.
I stared down at the little black box in my hand. I'm sure whatever was inside it was absolutely gorgeous.
But I wasn't going to open it.
"Patricelli!" I shouted and he stopped walking, turning back to smile at me with a mocking expression.
I threw the box back at him and he caught it, grinning, unconcerned by my rejection.
"The answer's no." I said firmly.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulders again as we headed back together, sliding the box away into his pocket. "That's okay, I'll ask you again tomorrow."
I looked up at him, shaking my head in numb amazement. "You're crazy, you know that, Dalton?"
He grinned down at me. "And I'll ask you again the next day, and the next, and the next...because I'm never gonna leave you again, Brooklyn. I promise."

The End
~*~*~*~
This is not an original work, but a work of fan fiction inspired by the story "Troublemaker" by fayeaiden, which is a Wattpad story as well as an interactive game on the app, Episodes. Do check it out if you haven't already!
While I take no personal credit for the creation of the core plotline, I hope everyone enjoyed it as an artistic piece written just for fun. I really loved all these characters and I had so much fun writing it (I wrote it in 5 days, my fastest creation ever!) that I simply had to share it with all my Wattpad Minions!
Happy fall reading everyone!
P.S. You can find some original works by me, including my ever so popular Western Romances, a Paranormal Thriller, and a collection of Short Horror Stories, with many more books to come, by visiting my profile page right here on good old Wattpad!
