chapter 10

* * * Sam's PoV * * *

"Because she is you."

I can't move. My eyes look up into his, and he puts his hand on my cheek. I still can't move, I'm shocked.

He looks down at my lips, seeing my unreactive expression. He leans closer, kissing me. I don't kiss back.

He sighs. "It was never me, was it?"

"Okay, Taylor. I will admit, when we were kids, yes, I had the biggest crush on you. But then as you got Vine famous dot dot dot, you began to talk to me less and less. I felt like I wasn't important in your life, and I knew I would never have a chance with you, so I moved on."

"I really fucked up, didn't I?" he said with a chuckle.

"Okay. I'll make you a deal. If we're both single when we turn 25, I'll give you another shot if not sooner."

His face lit up ike a Christmas tree, Hazel Grace. (hehehe) He hugs me tightly, and I return the embrace. I hear him whisper something in my ear that makes me shiver.

"Deal. I'll always love you, Samantha Auburn."

I exit his tight embrace, and slap him across the face. "Don't EVER call me that."

He laughs. I see my work here is done, and I leave the room.

I see Jack standing at the door.

"What were you doing in Taylor's room, Sam?"

"Damage control, Jack. Just because he wants me doesn't mean I wasn't ever his best friend at some point. It's like knowing your sibling is crying over you. Like Giiinsky. I needed to see if he was okay, and if he wasn't, help him."

"But Sam! He could've taken advantage of you in there!"

"He doesn't want to ruin our friendship, Jack. He has good intentions for me. He knows me well enough to know taking advantage of me wouldn't help him AT ALL."

"Oh, okay."

"But I do have something to tell you. Number one, let's go to our room, and number two, you need to listen to EVERYTHING I say, because if you only listen to one half, you won't understand."

"Alright." He puts his arms around me and leads me to our room.

I sit on the bed. "Taylor kissed me."

"DAMMIT-"

"I SAID LISTEN TO EVERYTHING I FUCKING SAID!"

"Okay then."

"But you should know I didn't kiss back."

"Thank you for that, Sam."

I nod. "But I did promise him something."

Jack leans forward, perching on his knees.

"If we were both single by age 25, I'd give him another shot at me."

"FIne with me, cause I don't plan on letting you go." He walks and smothers me in a kiss.

We pull apart, and I grab my phone. I text Autumn, my best friend, asking her to come hang with us.

Autumn is my long time bestie, and looks almost like me. Long blonde hair, swimmer shoulders, always smelling like chlorine. She's got these fabulous hazel eyes. We share a love of Connor Franta, former swimmer and former member of O2L, who now does Youtube videos on his main channel. We also share a love of Teo Halm (pronounced Tay oh) who recently played Alex in Earth to Echo. We've spent countless nights at each others houses, and heck, even the same hotel rooms whenever a swim meet comes around. She and my other best friend Elphaba (long story, her real name is Ella) have always been there.
