Chapter VIII

||Naruto||

  "Pleased to meet you, Naruto-kun," Hinata said and smiled. I gulped, flustered by the fact that I just thought she looked so beautiful.

  "If you don't mind, let me treat you to some ramen," she said. I tilted my head.

  "Ramen?" I asked.

  "Oh, of course you've never tried one, my bad. Trust me, you'll love it. Just follow me."

  "Oh, I will follow you anywhere," I blurted out without realising. She flinched and stared at me, her face bright red and her lips quivering.

  "W-What?"

  "Uh, I mean, you hurt your leg just now, right? Since I was there it's my responsibility to help you walk, in case you'll injure it again," I randomly threw in an explanation.

  "Oh... I see. Don't worry, we've rested quite enough already, I can manage," she said. I inwardly heaved a sigh of relief as my excuse worked.

  "What? It has only been ten minutes."

  "I may be human, but I'm still at least half werewolf, Naruto-kun. I'm not weak," she retorted, smiling and standing up. "Come along now."

  "One more bowl, please!" I exclaimed, slurping this food called ramen which was recommended by Hinata. I never knew human food could be so good.

  "That's already your tenth bowl, young lad!" The man opposite side of us laughed. Hinata didn't seem to be as shocked as the other customers. Rather, she looked like she was enjoying herself.

  "You're so funny, Naruto-kun," she remarked, giggling.

  "Whurt?" I asked, with the food still in my mouth. She started laughing more and shook her head.

  "Don't talk while eating, you'll choke!" She said. After swallowing, I grinned.

  "Thanks for the food, Hinata-chan!" I said. She nodded and took some papers out, handing them over to the man who gave us the food.

  "What's that?" I asked. The man stared at me and I stared back. "What, am I supposed to know?"

  "It's money, Naruto-kun. We use it to pay for what we buy," Hinata explained. Although not understanding why humans have to do that, I nodded anyways.

||Sakura||

  "Home so soon?" Mother questioned as I came in.

  "Yeah."

  There was a silence between us as I took off my shoes and made my way up. I stopped when she called me suddenly.

  "Sakura, can I talk to you regarding the wolves?" She asked.

  "If it's about not allowing me to go out, I'm sorry I have to disappoint you."

  "No, quite the opposite."

  I turned around with a surprised expression.

  "Sakura... Just a minute before the fight started, a wolf pounced on me. But another jumped out of the bush and... It saved me. I saw their interaction, it seemed like the one who saved me was the leader as the other was lowering its head."
