"Your looking good for regionals" Martian says as I dispatch my horse.
"Still a lot of work to do, don't we girl" I say as I rub Olive.
Martian shakes his head "You don't give yourself enough credit rubes" he pats my shoulder "now get going before your dad finds you ridding again" I nod and make my way to the barn.
"Good riding today girl" I tell Olive as I unsaddle her and close her door putting the latch down to insure it's locked.
"Ruby", Dad echoes through the barn.
'Crab' I whisper. I wasn't suppose to ride today so I know I'm in trouble.
I turn around to face my dad "sorry dad, I just haven't rode in 2 days and-"
"Rubes it's fine, I just came to tell you family meeting tonight" he interrupts.
"Oh why?"
He laughs "we have this conversation every time, what's the point of a family meeting if I told you now?"
"Oh right, see you there"
He goes to turn "and tell your brothers"
I nod and walk the opposite direction to the exit.
As I walk into the house I'm greeted by the laughter of my brothers.
"Family meeting tonight" I say grabbing bread from the pantry.
All my brothers turn to the 2nd eldest.
"Noah, what have you done now", they snigger
"I'm offended" he laughs.
My four brothers back at it again burst out laughing.
"Oh and rubes" I look up from the fridge "the fence needs fixing" Ben says calling over his shoulder still distracted by my other brothers conversation.
"Excuse me?" I say dropping the sandwich essentials on the bench causing a bang. He looks up. "that's your job", I say while starting to build my sandwich.
"Excuse me" he says
"When was the last time you did something around here", I state slamming the last piece of bread on top more aggressively then needed.
"At least I'm not the one who's all ways off riding", he smirks. A conversation between my brothers and I can never be taken seriously.
He leaves the kitchen smirking to later re-appear with the tool box. He shoves it to me.
"Fine", I shrug and take a forceful bit into my sandwich.
"And I need you to do my maths homework too" my twin Liam adds.
"Do I look like a robot?" I say staring back and forth of Ben and Liam "do it yourself" I yell picking up the tool box in one hand while holding my food in the other.
"Teenage girls" Finn sniggers.
"More like teenage friggin boys" I scoff.
With a roll of my eyes I exit the house. Making sure to bang the door for extra effect.

As the sun sets on the rolling green hills I finish up the fence. I open and close the gate to check, it still squeaks. Oh well. I close the gate behind me and jump in the truck throwing the tool box in the back as I go.
When I arrive back at the house it's well and truly dark, the front porch lit only by dim lights. I lift up the mat and fiddle around for the key, Dad is a safety freak and locks the house everyday at 5.
"About time you got here", Ben teases from the couch. Dad looks up.
"Yes, where were you?" Dad asks.
"Well, since I've become known for doing everyone's jobs, I was fixing the fence", I glare at Ben, using his smug smile against us.
"Ben" dad laughs "do your own jobs", he shakes his head.
I plonk down beside Finn grabbing a handful of chips from his bowl and shoving them into my mouth.
Finn giving me an offended look pulls the bowl to the other side of him "Don't worry my children" he says talking into the bowl "I will protect you from this evil monster" I shake my head smiling.
"Now", Dad begins "obviously this is a family meeting, so let's get started. As we know school starts back in 4 weeks. And Ben will be moving to LA for college", we all nod. "Noah will be going into senior year, Finn Junior year and Ruby and Liam Sophomore. You all have to wake up at 4 to get your farm jobs done and get on a bus for 2 hours to get to the closest school",
"Dad are you going to tell us what this family meeting is about or is this draw my life video?" I ask, smirking at my own joke.
"Yeah Dad just spit it out", Liam laughs.
"Your all moving LA"
"WHAT!"
