"Yuri Katsuki?"
I perk up when I hear my name and skate to the silver-haired, blue-eyed boy.
"Are you Yuri Katsuki?" he asks me.
As he looks at me, I notice his piercing blue eyes which seem to be staring into my soul.
"Yes, I'm Yuri Katsuki."
"And you're skating to Snow & Ice by Katri Lennor?"
"Yes."
He signals to a person controlling the music before turning back to me.
"Ok, start when you're ready."
His tone is dripping with boredom and he looks tired, but after having to watch dozens of amateurs try out, I can't blame him. In fact, it only makes me more determined to do well and prove that I'm not like anyone else he's seen today.
I skate onto the middle of the ice rink and then take a deep breath. As soon as I hear the music start, I strike my beginning pose.
The music flows through my body as I skate. With the energy from the music, I can skate gracefully, and I land all my jumps, spins, and turns. When it comes to the last part of my routine, a triple, quadruple jump, I leap into the air, spin, and land perfectly.
Then the music comes to an end, and I look up, directly into the eyes of the silver-haired boy.
He looks back at me, unsmiling, with a serious face, and I can tell he's impressed.
I begin to take my leave off the rink, feeling the burning glares of jealousy from the amateur skaters as I go by them.
"That's it for today," the boy with the blue eyes says out to everyone.
Groans and complaints from people who hadn't gotten the chance to try out yet come from all over the rink.
"We'll extend the tryouts to tomorrow, so if you didn't get to try out today, you can do so then. But," he says and looks at me, "After watching that performance, I don't know if you're still confident to think that you have what it takes to make the team. As you all know, spots are limited and we'll only take the top five."
People look around nervously and murmur amongst themselves.
"Well, that's all for now, you're all free to leave. Except for you," he says staring at me once again with his piercing eyes, making my heart skip a beat. "Katsuki, you stay."
