Yuri POV
When I wake up, filtered sunlight is shooting in through my half-closed blinds. I let out a long stretching yawn, then smile, feeling fresh and preppy from my good night's sleep, then reach out onto my nightstand for my phone. The time reads six-thirty a.m..
I get out of bed, take a long hot shower in the men's bathing room, eat a nice breakfast down at the cafe, and then return to my room to gather my things for my eight o'clock class.
I'm dressed, my hair is combed, and I fell ready to face Viktor, not as the old Yuri, but the new me.
Before I go, I take one look at myself in the mirror and smile.
Today will be a good day.
Viktor POV
It's seven-thirty when I leave my apartment. I step outside wearing a thin gray jacket, because of the chilly Fall weather, and carrying my black skating duffel bag on my back. I arrive on campus at eight o'clock and walk to the second main academic building where I have my first class.
On my way there, I notice a person with a black blazer, short, wavy, dark hair, and rims tucked behind their ears, indicating that they're wearing glasses.
I immediately recognize him as Yuri, but out of curiosity and amusement, I don't call out to him. I just quietly follow him as he walks through the second academic building, wondering which class he'll stop and go into. But after a while, he appears to be confused and I see him scratch his head while looking down at a piece of paper. I know he's lost and confused and it's so adorable, I let out a soft chuckle.
The hallways had been quiet and empty, so of course, he heard me.
"Victor?" he says in surprise after he turns to see me.
When he turns around, I notice how especially nice he looks today, but I can't tell exactly what's different about him.
I smile, then say, "Good morning Yuri. You look very nice today."
"Uh, yes, good morning!" he says loud and clear while looking me in the eyes, very determinedly. "And, uh, thank you," he adds a bit shyly.
How can he be so cute?
"Well, I noticed you seemed a bit lost. If you tell me where you're headed I can tell you how to get there."
I step closer to him until I'm at his side.
"Room 117. I can't find it, even with the map," he says a bit dejectedly.
"Room 117?," I ask, surprised. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah," he replies, "It's supposed to be a cooking class."
"Supposed to be? It is. I know because I'm taking it. It's been my major for two years."
"Really?" he says and his eyes bright up.
"Really," I say leaning closer to his face and lowering my voice a little.
He blushes, faintly but still noticeably, and looks at the floor for a second, but he quickly raises his head back up, looking very determined once again.
"That's great! Then we're in the same class."
"Yes, it's great that we're in the same class, but look around Yuri."
He does, taking in the silence and emptiness of the hallways.
"We're late."
