Not So Simple

"Okay," Dee said looking at herself in the bathroom mirror over the sink.
She leaned in, gave herself a stern look and sighed.
"It is as simple as ABC... Just go there, reverse your wish and it'll all be good," she said flatly.
Dee turned around and groaned. She did not think it was as easy as it sounded. She'd only be able to go back home after two days. Vella had informed Dee that along with her riches, she had a private jet which had suffered some damage on the rough trip to London.
That was not the only problem that was haunting her. After spending the day searching, the fountain, which was otherwise famous in history books and articles, was no where to be found. Dee knew she was to blame for the missing fountain. After her wishes not coming true and her mother in hospital, she had wished the fountain never existed.
Now it did not exist and it made her heart heavy with guilt and sadness.
She turned around to face the mirror and examined her blue hair. Maybe she could change that at least. She crouched to open the white cabinet under the sink and went through all the cleaning products that were neatly lined.
She grabbed a box of bleach and stood straight up. Blonde was better than blue at this point. She slowly poured some bleach onto her hair and tried covering it from the roots to the tips, covering as much area as she could. After soaking her hair in bleach, she wore a floral print shower cap and walked out into her bedroom.
She sat at the edge of her bed, frowning at the troubles surrounding her. She knew she had to move quick but she had no idea how.
"Vella?" Dee called out.
Vella almost immediately walked in swiftly with a look of concern.
"Yes miss Idun?" she replied in her silvery voice.
"Can we just fly home today? I need to be there quicker," Dee whined like a small child denied candy.
"Well I can see what I can do madam," Vella said as she slowly walked towards Dee to examine her cap.
"What?" Dee asked, instinctively reaching for the cap.
"I think your hair has turned blonde already," Vella said in wonder.
Dee stood up and walked back to the bathroom.  She washed her hair in the sink and marvelled at her newly blonde hair. It was better than blue. She dried her hair and walked back into the bedroom.
How could she even wish the fountain away? Her mother was basically a walking zombie, just like the dog playing outside. Something had to be done.
Vella walked in and cleared her throat.
"There's a flight leaving in two hours. However since it's a last minute booking they need your personal details and an extra amount, cash, within the hour."
"Well get on it then!"
Vella left the room and Dee sighed, collapsing back onto her bed. She was prone to getting herself into different messes but this, she thought, was record breaking.
Dee sat up and looked at herself in the mirror on the dresser. She noticed a streak of blue hair.
She groaned as she moved closer to examine the streak.
"No no no! This can't, shouldn't... Not supposed to happen!" she exclaimed to herself, upset that she didn't cover all her hair in bleach.
"Madam," Vella walked in causing Dee's attention to shift to her.
"Your flight is confirmed. You'll need to leave in half an hour," Vella said.
She seemed distracted as she informed Dee and had her eyebrows furrowed. She tilted her head a little when Dee snapped her back to attention by asking her to help pack a bag.
Dee had noticed how Vella was looking at her so she glanced back at the mirror to see if it was something about her appearance, of course apart from the blue streak.
Nothing seemed to be wrong but Dee could have sworn the streak of blue was bigger than before.
Assuming it was just her imagination, she decided to distract herself by getting ready for the airport. She threw on a pair of three quarters and a tee shirt she found in the closet and they were out in time.

Once in her hometown, Dee prioritized her visit back home by first taking a taxi to where the fountain was supposed to be.
The taxi pulled up at a lavish hotel that resembled a palace more, with beautiful pillars holding up the roof so high up, one would have to strain their neck to get a glimpse of the Victorian decorations on the top.
"I'm sorry sir, you must be mistaken," Dee said, leaning ahead to talk to the taxi driver.
"Nah ma'm, I don't do no mistakes, this be it. Ain't no other City Park 'round here," the taxi driver drawled.
"But this.. Is a hotel?" Dee said, unsure of what was going on.
The taxi driver turned to look at the hotel then around to look at Dee.
"Yer joking ain't ya? City Park is way across ma'm. The hotel owns the park now. But it's just to cross the street, that's all," the driver said pointing at the other side of the street.
Dee felt sheepish. She looked on the other side of the street and sure enough, the park was there, it's trees standing tall and proud.
There was something different about it though. It was smaller with no magnificent fountain in sight.
"Alright ma'm, I need to go. Ye payin' me or Nah?" the driver said with a hint of frustration in his voice.
Dee got off, facing the huge hotel with just a bag on her side. After staring at it for a while, she decided to walk in into the enormous lobby that had a small fountain. There were small children playing around the fountain as their parents watched cautiously from a nearby café.
"I need one room please," dee requested at the reception.
A bellhop was called to carry her luggage and as he approached, dee was left mesmerized.
She recognized the emerald green eyes and the messy hair that poked out from under the hat he wore.
"Oh my God," she exclaimed.
