The Start

"Can y'all hurry up," Derrick yells at Tanya and I from outside. "We only gon be gone for the weekend! Why y'all tryna pack your whole closet?"

We come out with our Victoria Secret duffel bags and mug him.

"Look, all you niggas need is two pair of jeans and shirts." Tanya smacks her lips.

"Y'all don't even bring extra draws cuz y'all don't shower." Sierra adds and laughs.

"Girl, you must be talking bout yo self. We heard them braids of yours was stinking up the whole house the otha day." Dace laughs and daps up Orion.

"It be ya own blood." Sierra sucks when teeth.

We pack our stuff in the back of Orion's black Tahoe. It can only fit eight people, so Sierra, Dace and Jonell are squeezed together in the back.

"Yo, Angela bring yo ass back here." Dace sucks his teeth.

Angela turns around and laughs at them. "Why?"

"Sierra too damn thick to be squeezed back here." Dace sucks his teeth and tries to get comfortable.

"You tryna day Angela ain't thick." Jonell laughs.

"Nah, just not as thick as Sierra. smaller legs makes it easier to squeeze in."

Angela laughs and shakes her head. "Thanks for the offer but I'm good. Enjoy the three hour drive." She winks.

Dace sucks his teeth and pulls Sierra on his lap.

"Yo neck iight?" He asks Sierra. "Is it uncomfortable?"

"No, but it might get uncomfortable later." She answers him.

"Well we can alternate from on my lap and the seat." Dace says calmly. "Just let me know when, ma." He coos.

"iight," Sierra tries to say calmly, but you can hear the excitement in her voice.

I can't believe all this time she was feeling my brother. She's a damn fool.

"This function better be worth the drive." Khalil speaks up. "I hate long ass drives."

"You'll be okay." Tanya smiles at him. "I can tell it's gonna be lit."

"Thank you," Orion exclaims. "Someone with some positive energy. Y'all sour as fuck."

"Chill," I look over to him and smile. "Khalil, wipe that stank ass look off your face." I turn around from the front seat and mug him.

He sucks his teeth and slouches in his seat. He was such a big baby sometimes.

"Well ima need Tanya in my arms the whole time to calm me." He says and pulls Tanya into him.

Tanya stiffens, ready to rebel, but she soon relaxes and rests her head on his chest.

Damn, everyone shacking up in this car. It makes me miss Marquis.

After what happened the other day at his house, he's been acting like his old self again. But, he still said he wouldn't be able to come with us this weekend. I want to trust him, but somethings telling me he's lying to me again. But, I wasn't trying to let that cloud my mind this weekend. I want to have fun.

We get to San Diego quicker than I thought. We all check into our hotel rooms on the seventh floor. We weren't gonna be extra and pay mad money for all of us to have our own room just for two nights, so we were all sharing with someone.

"iight, so who wanna share a room wit who?" Orion asks, holding up all the room keys.

"Me and my girls can share one room." Tanya says. "Two people per bed."
