Chapter 8: Another Strange Encounter (Part 1)

Kuroni's POV

"You're my mother...." I repeated as I looked up at the 8 ft tall woman standing over me in the white kimono.

She knelt down and kissed me on the forehead.

A loud thud was heard and she quickly reacts by looking back. Her gaze then fixed on me with a worried look in her eyes.

"You have to wake up, NOW." She looks at me with worry and all I could do was stammer out a few words.

"W-What?! B-But why? I finally have you back I can't leave! I don't want to." The thud was heard again.

Hachishakusama pulled off her hat as her bun came undone. "You have to wake up!! Now!! You'll see me again soon! I promise, but right now you have to wake up!!!" Her kimono disappeared and became a regular white dress. Dark smoke began erupting from behind the corner and racing towards me and my mother.

Hachishakusama held out her hands and a huge black shield-like barrier had appeared, keeping the black and red smoke on the other side of the barrier.

"WAKE UP KURONI!!!!!"

I gasped awake in a cold sweat as I started to breathe heavily.

I was in my bed?

But... How did I get here? I checked my alarm clock that read '6:33'.

I groaned and dropped back down onto my pillow, staring at the ceiling. It was quiet. I could hear my own breathing.

It was an early Saturday morning and I couldn't go back to sleep. I somehow knew that Kuchisake-Onna wouldn't be asleep at this time, since some people go to Saturday school at around 7 AM.

I swung my legs over the bedside, my feet meeting the cold wooden floor.

I was still puzzled by how I got here, but I shook it off. Maybe seeing Hachishakusama was just my imagination? Maybe I'm just imagining things because of the people I've met?

I stood up tall and made my way to the door, opening it to meet the darkness of the small hallway that separated my room from the livingroom and kitchen.

I walked into the livingroom and put on some black shoes.

I looked over at the table next to me and..... And I saw my keys...

Lying there on the table were my keys.

Maybe I put them there after I walked in...?

I grabbed them and walked out of the apartment, shutting the door quietly behind me. I made my way down the gravel stairs and began to walk.

I stared down at my feet as I walked along the sidewalk, cars lining up the roads.

I finally looked up and saw a crowd of people walking.

I groaned in frustration and turned a corner into an alleyway. I jumped on top of a dumpster and climbed ontop of a brick wall.

I looked down and saw Kuchisake-Onna slicing a woman's throat open. The woman's blood spilled out all across the floor and all over Kuchisake-Onna's mask and trench coat. The sight almost made me vomit as the head of that poor woman rolled off of her headless body, blood spilling from her head and her body.

Kuchisake-Onna looked up at me and pulled down her mask to greet me with a smile. "Hey Tsu- er Kuroni?" I shrugged. "I guess I'll just go with Kuroni. I'm fine with it." I jumped off of the wall and you'll never guess where I landed!
