Two // "He's back!"

Betty's POV
Ugh! Today was Monday. School had been really stressing me out lately. Even though everyone knows me as this 'perfect girl next door' no one really knows the real me. Nobody actually understands me. I don't want to be perfect, or be seemed as it. I'm far from perfect, I want everyone to know that.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
My alarm went off. I ran into my closet and picked an outfit. Same old pink, long sleeved shirt with a white collar and light blue jeans. My mum didn't really let me buy any other clothes really, mainly because they weren't 'perfect'.
After I put my clothes on and sleeked my hair straight into a perfect ponytail, I grabbed my bag and ran quickly downstairs. I only grabbed an apple from the kitchen, as I wasn't really that hungry.
"I'm leaving" I shout to my mom, without an answer I slam the front door and head to school.
"Hey" I hear a familiar male voice from behind me.
"Hey Arch" I smile back.
"Did you Jughead's back and he's coming to our school" Archie told me. I was shocked. Why didn't he tell me?
"What! He's back?" I asked, even though he just told me he was back.
"Yeah, he's been here for a couple of days now. My dad just got off the phone with his dad and he told him that he's coming to our school" Archie explained. Well isn't that sad? He didn't even want to tell me. Even if we weren't together, I still wanted to be friends.
We walked to school, normally, just chatting about random stuff.
"B!" I heard sharp footsteps coming towards me.
"Hey V!" I smiled back and hugged her.
"A new hotties at our school.. but he had a girl" Veronica gossiped. Who could this be?
"Oh look he's there" She pointes over my shoulder. I turned around to see this 'hottie'.
"Jughead?" I stuttered, tears forming in my eyes.
"That's his name?" Veronica asked, biting her lip. Jughead finally glanced over to me and I just ran away.
"I'm sorry, gotta go".

I ran and ran. Out of school. I didn't want to see him again. What did I do wrong? I loved him! Clearly, our relationship wasn't strong enough to last. Did all of those moments and a year and a half mean nothing to him? Why do I care? Why should he care? He has another girl anyway.

Jughead's POV
My dad told me that I would go to Riverdale high. I wasn't too excited but I was happy that I had my girlfriend here, with me. I walked into school, everyone was staring at us. We were greeted by a short boy, named Dilton. He showed us around and after the tour, we went by our lockers. That's when I, saw her, for the very first time after three years. Three whole f**king years without her. I did miss her, but I had to move on. Without a second, she just ran. Ran out of the school.
"I gotta go, I'll see you late babe" I say to Toni and run after her, without giving Toni a second to answer.
"Betty!" I shout multiple times but she still keeps running. Running away from me. I know what I did was wrong. I left her, and then found another girl. Nobody could replace Betty, but I already had let her go.
After a lot of running, we were now at the forest. Betty wouldn't stop running until she tripped over a stick and fell straight to the floor. I finally caught up to her.
"Betty. Are you okay?" I ask, lifting her up. I see that her leg was bleeding a lot and a bruise was forming.
"Leave me alone Jughead. Why don't you hang out with your girlfriend!" She snapped back. She had a right to be mad at me. After all those years, I didn't call her back nor did I answer her calls. I didn't respond to any of her messages nor did I text her that I was coming back.
"I'm sorry. I really am, for leaving you. I had no other choice. But now, my feelings have changed. I love this girl" I told her. I felt bad for lying because I knew that deep down inside of me, I still loved Betty. A few tears were rolling down her cheeks.
"Okay. Friends?" She asked, wiping her tears away and forming a smile on her face.
"Best friends" I say, making her smile wider. We get to the trailer and I clean up her cut. After a while of just sitting around and just talking about random stuff, Betty leaves and heads home.
