Sarah's P.O.V.
We arrived at my old home late in the afternoon. I was nostalgic as I entered the premise for it was a very long time since I'd been here. The last time was when Cedrick brought me home almost a month ago. One of the best moments I had with him.
I went to my room and I felt like it was only a normal day after I got home from Mayfield. Everything was the same as before - the time when I still had my old life.
Some pencils were scattered on the study table as if I just used them, the bed was neatly tucked, as always, but I noticed that the sheets were new, and what stood out the most was the medical kit on my lamp stand. I could still remember when Cedrick wounded his hand. It was one of the seldom times I saw him vulnerable. One of the few times he became real.
I lied on my bed and stared at the ceiling for a reasonable amount of time. My mind was blank.
For some unknown reason, I took out my phone and checked if I have any calls or messages. There were a few and most came from Tina whereas the others were sent from some advertising agencies.
I didn't know why but I honestly felt disappointed. This was insane. After a few seconds, my phone beeped so I looked at it immediately.
What's wrong with me! I thought.
I read the message and it was from Tina.
Hey! Are you alright? I've been trying to call you but you're not answering. Hope you're fine.
I called her and she picked up her cellular phone rather fast.
"Hey! How are you?" Tina inquired.
"I'm not fine. Can you come here? At my house?" I said, my voice cracking. I waited for a reply but I only heard some shuffling noises. "Hello?"
"Sorry, I just wore my kicks. Yeah, I'll be right there." I smiled then I dropped my phone.
Waiting for her didn't take me long for she arrived a few minutes after our conversation a while ago. She approached me with open arms and hugged me tightly. She understood how I felt.
"What happened to your foot?" She asked worriedly.
"I tripped on my other foot, nothing serious, really." I answered rather defensive. She stared at me in dismay but she then shrugged it off. "So, what happened in school today?"
"Hmm, I can't tell you."
"Why?"
"Well, let's just talk about something else. Besides you'll know it when you get back tomorrow anyways." She uttered dismissively. I was curious about it but I didn't ask her to elaborate further for I didn't care that much either.
We spent the rest of the time talking about random shenanigans, avoiding to tackle anything about Cedrick. We didn't plan it but maybe we both, especially she, understood that it wasn't something I want to speak of.
Time flew fast and darkness finally seized the the day. I glanced at my window and saw constellations of stars in the black miserable sky. There were a lot of them but they weren't as much as the other days.
I shifted my sight on Tina and she was silent for the the first time this evening. She was looking at nothing in particular. I stared at her perplexed but she shook her head, dismissing any assumptions that could form in my mind.
"I think I need to go." She suddenly said. I just nodded my head and bid her goodbye then she left.
I didn't know why her mood had quickly changed. The last topic we discussed was of Richard and in my opinion, there wasn't something to be saddened by it but was that really true for all?
