"Sisters will be your bestest friend forever -"

Something mum says a lot, and that's the last thing on my mind as my younger sister, Nicole, stands over me with a jug of water.

My groggy, crusty, sleepy eyes start to focus on the scene that is right in front of me. The first thing I notice is that the glass pitcher has ice cubes, and a hand attached to it. And attached to that hand is Nicole's face, and a beyond evil grin is spread from ear to ear.

I blink a few times as my mind puts two and two together. My eyes widen as a noise starts to escape my mouth. A cry of protest? A 'Nicole!?'? Who could know because then Nick pours the water right onto my face.

I jolt upright, the iciness stinging my face. My eyes squeeze shut, trying to block out the freezing liquid from leaking into my eyes. My mouth feels like it's coughing up hundreds of litres of water and at least three cubes.

I wipe my face with my wet sleeve and glance down at myself and my bedding. Everything's soaked. My face scrunches up in anger. I start to shiver.

My eyes flicker down to Nick. My eyebrows knit themselves down, flames of anger likely glowing in my eyes.
But I have no chance to snap at Nick because she bursts out laughing. Then she catches a glimpse at my scrunched up face and she starts rolling around on the floor, clenching her stomach and sides, genuine laughter spluttering out of her mouth.

"Nick!" I yell, still some water pouring out of my mouth. "What the hell -" but she's not listening - "I'm going to get you!" Still no changed reaction, just exasperated chuckles.

"Mum!" I yell. Thankfully, mum walks in in a robe and cup of coffee in her hand.
"Mum." I don't know where to start. "Nicole poured icy cold water all over my face! Look!" I gesture to myself and my bed.

I look back up at her but she's struggling to to keep a straight face. She knows it's wrong to laugh, but, apparently, this whole situation is hilarious; me, sleeping peacefully when suddenly my fake-sister pours ice water over my face, leaving me, shivering in my bed, practically froze over, while she rolls around the floor like an idiot, killing herself laughing.

But I'm just mad, seeing complete red.
I yell and rip the dripping linen off my bed. I launch at Nick, aiming for a full fledged attack.

Tearing up from all her laughing, Nick notices me just in time. She's known me long enough to know I won't hold back, so she rolls sideways, just avoiding my pummelling body. But I ignore the pain as I smack the floorboards, and reach just in time to grab her ankle.

She screams, but her mouth is a wide grin, which just makes me angrier.

I grab onto her shirt, clawing my way up her so I can pin her down. "Nick." I say through gritted teeth. "I. Am. Going. To. Kill. You."

Although, of course, my threat is empty, she knows I could do some damage if I got my hands on her, so she wriggles her way free and bolts out the door, turns (nearly falling over), and slam her door shut. I hear her evil, maniacal laugh echo through the house.

I look up at mum, cold and soaked. "Mum?"

I just desperately want some justice here.
But she looks down at her coffee, chuckles as if she can't believe what just happened, shakes her head, and then looks back up at me. She points at me and shakes her head again. "Get ready for school." Then she turns and leaves, leaving me gaping and shivering.

I showered to warm myself up after Nick drenched me and mum ignored her, got dressed in black skinny pants, a simple white tee, a denim jacket and black converse. I whipped my brown hair into a ponytail and put my homework into my bag, then ran over to Chances because Nick's friends started showing up and I new she would just start telling them what she did this morning and I didn't want to be around for their snickering.
