Thunder woke me up, only hours after I fell asleep, my mind and body exghusted. The flash was bright, and the thunder was loud, one after another. The eye of the storm was right above me. but the thing was, it was dry lightning and thunder, so no rain, thankfully.
My favorite oufit was torn and dirty, and, only the shoes were waterproof unfortunatly. At least if it started raining, my feet would be dry, I think. Thunderboomed overhead again and I decided I need to find shelter at least, if it started raining. I stood up, my legs still shaking from exghustion. I stumbled a bit, and looked around the clearing (small circle of grass that actually really could not be classified as a clearing), for the first time, and my eye sight kicked in.
The "clearing" was small, yes, but it should still of had flowers in it because light could get in through the gap between the trees, but there where none, and the grass, when it should of been green, was brown, or black. the flowers, for there where actually some now that I looked closer, where withered and dead. I spun around, I did not take a clear look at the clearing before I went to sleep, but I remember seeing green grass in my normal eye.
My eyes widened and I spread my wings, even with the high winds and lightning, it was now safer up there than down here, if the once alive clearing was dead now. But before I could lift off the ground, something heavy and dangerous slammed into my back, bearing me down to the ground heavily. I rolled when I hit the ground and managed to lose my attacker on the ground somewhere behind me.
When I stood up, I was surrounded by foul creatures. The Cesrai, a ugly race of....something. Tall and muscular, everything around them died, the only warning that they where coming. They where basicaly, only muscle with no skin, hence, their muscles turned black and where slowly dying, just like the earth they ran along. Mindless and evil, all they hungered for was food, and they would eat anything.
I crouched low into a fighting stance, knowing that if I tried to fly, I would only be tackled to the ground from behind again, and my right wing hurt, a sure sign that flying right now would only bring me pain. I growled, and one of the creature paused, almost if they understood that they where in danger, or that I was tired and injured and was unable to defend myself anymore. I swallowed heavily, knowing that I could possibly survive, but there was a slight chance that I could die if they injured me heavily, or it would take a long time for me to heal myself.
Looking around wearily, I waited for the first attack to come, and when it did, it was from behind. One of the bigger ones hit me from behind, throwing me forward with the force. I, however, was prepared for it, and I allowed my body to be filled with shadows, a trick my mother taught to me to hide from an enemy, or if they cought you like that, they would just fall through you, like they could not grasp a shadow. Thankfully, unlike my training, where it was pitful and my father could grab onto me, the cesrai just tumbled through me and fell on his face. I ran, I am not strong enough to fight them now, tired mentally and physicaly, my only hope was to travel through the shadows.
Ony having done this once with positive resultes, I was still slightly worried that I would hurt myself. Right now, I just did not care where the heck I ended up as long as I didn't die.
I ran into the shadows.
