CHAPTER 3

JOSEPH’S P.O.V

I need to get my mind off this matter but how can I? I was engaged to be married in some months time and then I found out that my betrothed has not been faithful to me. That's also where the problem lies.

The first problem was that, I was cuckolded by a girl, I the prince of this region, cuckolded by a mere slip of a girl. A girl that I had never thought could do that. It's so disappointing that a girl I laid my trust in could do this to me. This, I guess has exemplified the advice, never put your trust in man but God.

The next problem is that I just can’t reconcile what happened with Mary, she isn’t just that kind of person. She doesn’t have it in her, she does not have any lying bone in her and that's what hurt the most.

That he still want her despite all this. But she has played him for a fool because it seems his assessment of her that she doesn’t have a lying bone in her is off the mark.

A roar roused him from his mussing and he was ever grateful to the men jousting in the nearby arena. I had better join them and get my mind of this, he thought.

'Hey Ivan', He called to the only man he can call my best friend as he was about to enter into the arena. 'Let’s show them how it’s done'.

'You bet pal', was his reply.

They entered and collected two jousting stick from the two guys who were just leaving. They each untied a horse and mounted. When they were ready, they charged.

He loved the cool breeze on his face and the fact that he was able to put his mind to other use than just thinking about Mary.

He had to snap out of his thoughts because Ivan is a worthy opponent and he had to really concentrate. Whenever he wants a real match, he calls on him. All others are either incompetent or are afraid to really battle with the prince.

They met in the middle and there was a loud sound as their sticks met. He wasn’t really prepared for this much force so the stick shook in his hand slightly. They rode sideways to gather momentum and in the process Joseph readied himself.

He rode at him and hit Ivan's stick with enough force to unsettle him from the horse and fling his stick from his grip but it only succeeded in moving him backwards on his horse.

'Holy Saints! Is this guy made out of tons of bricks?' He muttered to himself.
