Lights flickered on automatically as we made our way into the living room where Shane and I had been previously. My body was quivering from nervousness while Taffy trotted happily beside us.
"So," I began while I settled on the black couch and Taffy jumped up onto my lap. Instead of sitting beside me, Shane sat in a recliner chair that was faced towards me. His eyes held mine as he regarded me silently.
Shifting his gaze to Taffy, he began talking slowly, "there's three things in this world; humans, werewolves and vampires. A human is what you are; simple minded and there's a voluptuous amount of you. A werewolf is what I am; my subconscious supports a wolf and I lead something that we call a pack. In a pack there's three top positions although the third one is not always necessary. I sit at the highest rank which is alpha and below me is beta, gamma, and omegas are the weakest ones.
"The house that I live in, this one, is where I host pack meetings and we have to watch out for rogues. Rogues are wolves that leave, or are forced from, their packs. They are automatically deemed dangerous so whenever we have one in our territory we have to act upon it and kill them," my breath caught in my throat.
Shane glanced up at me and smiled softly, "everyone follows my lead. Anyone that disobeys it faces potential punishments. An alpha has one person that's equal to them which is a luna; you. A luna is basically the matriarch of the pack. You and me, we were destined for each other. Fate literally tied a red string around us when we were born so that we would meet eventually in our lives. When we met there was an instant connection and you had to option to reject me, but I wouldn't allow that. I need you more than you need me." He bit his lip, lowering his eyes from mine.
"My parents were killed by rogues so I was given pack responsibility once I had turned 18. My beta had kept everyone in line until I was ready. Anyways, when I bit you I marked you. Marking is something mates do when they find their significant other. When I marked you, it was me making what is mine truly mine and it also let other wolves know that you have someone. That someone being an alpha.
"I need you to know that I can lose control at any time and let my wolf out." Getting up, he settled beside me and draped an arm across my shoulders, "the mating ritual is going to have to be completed soon. That means that we have to have," his voice trailed off as Taffy hopped off of the couched and walked out of the living room. I swear that dog has like a sixth sense for awkward moments.
"Sex?" I offered.
"Yeah."
"So let me just get this right; you're a werewolf. Kind of like the ones from Twilight, but then not really. You are the head honcho in which everyone follows your lead." My hands gestured wildly causing Shane to chuckle beside me.
He rested his head against mine, breathing deeply, "pretty much. You're handling it better than I had expected."
"So quick question, if we're mates or whatever than why the fuck did you become like a super stalker? Seriously bro, there's a lot of other ways into a girl's heart. One way is through her stomach with gifts of delicious food." I stated blatantly.
Shane cleared his throat uncomfortably, "me being an Alpha and all means that when I find my mate I become extremely possessive. The need I feel for that certain person is almost unbearable and that's basically why I followed you. Trust me, I completely agree that that wasn't one of my smarter moves."
"If you're a werewolf than you obviously have heightened senses. So does that mean when I'm on my period then you can smell it?" I blurted out.
