I don't own any of this apart from the part of Clem and James.
I leave brunch early and go to the dance studio. I practise my contemporary solo, trying to make myself feel better.
"Something wrong?" I hear a voice say behind me.
"It's nothing," I say as I see James, my best friend at my dance school.
"Come on, I know something is up," he says.
"It's just Nate," I explain.
"Again," James says and he gives me a look as he pulls out the barre from the cupboard, "up for helping me with my arabesque?"
"As much as I would love to do that, I really should get home," I say miserably.
(Ivy Week)
I wake up and tiptoe down the stairs, hoping not to run into Nate. We are still not talking.
"Oh, finally you're up. Nate has gone out for a run with Dad but he should be back soon and then you can go to school together," Mom explains.
"Erm...I'm meant to be meeting Blair, like now," I lie, "I'm just going to go, bye."
I get through school with no revenge from Blair. I'm guessing she has forgiven me for not telling her about Nate and Serena, she hasn't bothered to tell me though. After school I go home and see Nate on the sofa with a book. Weird. I decide now is a good a time as any to try and make up with him.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
Nate sighs, "I'm trying to read this book to impress the Ivy rep so that I can have more of a chance of getting into a school that I don't even wanna go to."
"Oh Dad still pushing Dartmouth?" I say sympathetically.
Nate sighs and nods.
"Hey, I'm sorry for having a go at you the other day," Nate says.
"It's okay, I'm sorry too."
"You wanna help me make sense of this stupid thing?" Nate asks.
I nod and join him on the sofa.
After, I got ready for the mixer. We all bundle into a limo and arrive in time. Nate goes off to speak to the rep and I try to find Blair.
"Blair...erm...are we cool?" I ask nervously.
"Yeah, totally. Now shoo I have work to do," she says as she tries to get the attention of one of the reps.
Okay, I guess we're fine.
I speak with Eric, Serena's little brother, for a while. I haven't seen him since he went to Miami. He talks very little and he seems a bit different than I remember but it was nice to catch up.
After, I decide to get a drink and see Nate talking to Dan. As I walk up to the table I see Dad and Nate start to fight. This can't be good. I don't want to join in so I listen from a distance.
"Where do you think you're going?" Dad says as Nate tries to walk away.
"Home."
"I don't think so. Get back out there and finish what you started," Dad says
"You mean what you started. I don't wanna go to Dartmouth. There, I said it. Now back off."
Nate walks off and I start to follow him, but Dad stops me.
"No, I will not have both of my children disgrace me today. You are not to go with Nate. You will stay for the speeches and you will not breathe a word about Nate and college to anyone. Do you understand?"
I nod and we return to the room as if everything is normal. I always found that so creepy how no matter what was happening we could always pretend everything was fine. We were all so good at faking it.
"Can I have your attention" Blair says starting her speech.
I pretend to be interested and I clap when appropriate but I just zone out. Dad was really angry, what does Nate think he's doing? Does he honestly think Mom and Dad will let him not go to Dartmouth? It's going to be hell when I get home, they are going to be fighting so much. I feel bad for Nate but then again they're doing the same thing to me, planning out my whole life.
"Can I please have Serena Van der woodsen join me on stage please?" I hear Blair say.
Wait what? Ostroff centre, helped one of our own, young addicts, clean and sober today? Was Serena in rehab? I watch as she goes up on stage, she looks mortified.
"Hi, I'm Serena Van der Woodsen and I just wanna thank my friend Blair Waldorf for recognising the Ostroff centre and all of the good things that they do."
Wait she's not even denying it, was she an addict, I mean I knew she was a little crazy before she left but this?
We get home eventually, but Nate is not there thank God. He's probably staying with chuck again. Mom and Dad are not happy. The next morning Dad is even grumpier as Nate is late for his run, which Dad has big plans for. He made me promise to tell anyone that asked that Nate had food poisoning last night. There we go faking it again.
