{Katy POV}
It was June of 2014, and I was walking down the streets of Wisconsin. Considering the month and season, it was still pretty cold.
I folded my arms and tucked my chin into my scarf as I carried on. I had just finished for this semester at my dance group, so it wasn't much of a lesson. The majority of us were taking selfies on the dance bar facing the mirror, doing funny faces and weird poses. Most of the girls there that I hang out with go to schools outside of the district, like Leanne and Jess. Only Allie goes to my school, and I hardly see her since were not in the same sets. We might be next year. But theres time I guess, another 7 weeks and were done with 9th Grade!
For whatever reason, my mom didn't pick me up that day. She said something about Dylan being ill so she has to look after him. That little bugger got so much attention, when I was his age and I was ill, I got an ice pack, a bowl of ice cream and 3 DVD's to watch for the day. No special pampering or cancelling of daily routines to care for her first and only child, let alone daughter. I thought it was a mom and daughter bond? Obviously not.
I crossed over at the traffic lights and checked my phone. I had a message from Jess, telling me that I could stay at hers next weekend if i wanted. I texted her back 'yes' checking the time and putting my phone into my pocket. I carried on walking until i got to my house, opening the door and shutting it behind myself.
"I'm home!" I shouted, taking off my coat and dropping my dance bag on the stairs. My dad came out of the kitchen, walking up to me giving me a kiss on the forehead.
"Be quiet, your mom's in one of her moods because Dylan is stressing her out with all this sickness stuff" he poked my shoulder.
"Alright, Im gonna go and chill in my room for a bit, its nearly 9" i looked at the clock in our hallway. My dad looked at it and back at me, nodding.
'Alright, goodnight Katy' he ruffled my curls before going into the living room. I grabbed my phone out of my coat pocket and my bag, taking it upstairs and into my room. I collapsed onto the bed and checked my phone, it was Grayson.
'Hey Katy its Grayson' the message read. I was confused on why he messaged me, we hardly spoke. The only reason I had is number was to prank call him once, and he's only in my maths and science. Nevertheless I messaged him back.
"Hiya Grayson, whats up" i sent it and tapped onto twitter. I scrolled through many tweets about the world cup, boring me instantly. My phone buzzed again and it was Grayson.
Grayson - "um this sounds really weird but Ethan and I were wondering if you wanted to come hang out with us tomorrow for the day. Were gonna take the truck down to lake michigan' it read. I read it over a few times, trying to set my mind on it. The whole thing sounded great, but i was confused on why they'd invite me. I replied back anyway.
"Well yeah ok. It sounds fun. I'll come to your's at about 12 then?' I sent. I guess I'll need a bikini, towel, a bit of sunscreen. What's the weather even gonna be like?
'Grayson - Yeah. Were gonna pack some food and stuff in the morning. See you' i got back. I replied straight away
'Cool. Night' i sent and put my phone down. I put my alarm clock on for 10am, and lay down facing the ceiling. I thought about the weather, what i should wear, whether i should take any flip flops? Maybe the weather would be alright if they decided to take a trip to the beach. I closed my eyes and dreamt of tomorrow, getting excited. It was a little odd that they invited me but they were good guys, I knew they wouldn't do it to get at me or something.
And with that, i fell asleep.
