A huge, no huge wasn't enough to begin to describe the sheer height of the building in front of me. It was even higher than the EmpireStateBuilding, the highest building I had ever seen. I couldn't even catch a glimpse ot the top of the tower no matter at what angle I bend my neck. According to the headmaster, the building in front of me was originally a research tower that later got re-purposed into an institute for education. He said that it was a 3000 ft building which was taller than the currently highest building in the world I knew of, the Burj Khalifa, which from what I heard stood tall at about 2700 feet. The headmaster tried to dismiss how impressive the tower was by saying that Saudi Arabia was currently building a tower that would be 300 feet taller than the one before me. Even so, it honestly baffles me how a building this tall was only used for a school. If that was the case, I was extremely curious on how impossibly high was the tallest building in this world.

I was so taken aback by the height of the tower that I hadn't begun to appreciate the design of the tower. The rather simplistic silver tower had a wise base and the width of the tower gradually became smaller the further it was away from the ground. There were also large gold and white something, I don't really know what it was, which formed a spiral encircling the tower, starting from each end of the base toward the top. There was also variety of glittering gems that were embedded in the tower, aligned vertically along the middle of the tower. I'm not a gemologist but among those that I could see clearly, I could recognize a few. There was a ruby, an amber, a topaz, an emerald, a cobalt, a sapphire and an amethyst. The splendid shimmer they gave off was a beautiful sight to behold. The headmaster had said that the scenery from the front of the tower was even more breathtaking and he lamented that he could not bring me there. He didn't explain why and although I was curious, I was too busy being mesmerized by the tower to ask.

As I was still being dumbstruck by the scenery in front of me, the headmaster clapped twice, this snapped me out of my daze, and created a 6 foot portal out of magic. He told me to follow suit once I was ready and proceeded to enter the portal first.

So here I was standing in this clear, cloudless morning sky, with the sun emitting its not so gentle warmth onto me, being drenched in a ton of sweat. I was so busy being awed by the tower that I forgot how pissed I was at the headmaster. I was currently wearing a mint colored long sleeved shirt alongside black wool trousers and with thick brown boots. I also wore a grey sweatshirt as well but I took it off since the heat was starting to get me. The attire I was wearing would have been fine to deal with the cruel cold winter at this time of year. But apparently, the wise headmaster who brought me here forgot to mention that the school I was about to be admitted into was located in a tropical country, a country filled with year long harsh bright sunlight and a really humid weather. I still couldn't quite believe how hot the weather was here at 8:30 a.m. in the morning. Even the hottest summer I had experienced in New York didn't quite compare to the heat of this place.

I guess it was too late now. It was not like I could change into something else at this open grass field in broad daylight. I was hoping to make a decent first impression to my new classmates by at least presenting myself in neat and clean attire but it seemed that I wasn't able to do that anymore.

I placed my right hand on my chest as an attempt to calm my breathing which was starting to become short and shallow while my other clammy hand was tightening its grip on the handle of my luggage. I noticed my heartbeat was starting to palpate faster and louder than it was a while ago. I suppose it was either due to nervousness of needing to introduce myself to a bunch of magical strangers or the excitement of finally experiencing a magical school life that I always dreamt of. Or it could be a mix of both.
