"So where are you from?" The tenth client that day asked (Y/N), his blue eyes sparkling with curiosity. It's only been three days since the claimed 'break through', and the young woman had become the most requested host/hostess in those three days. Tamaki whined about it often, to which (Y/N) answered with the excuse of it being payback from the "Story Time" theme she had been forced to take part of.
"Sorry, I don't give that information, but I can vaguely describe my home state for you." She smiled, a genuine smile, and the boy nodded with great vigor.
Meanwhile, Kyoya had been glancing at the girl, with each passing moment he found his eyes being drawn to her, he couldn't seem to deduct why. He tried to distract himself with his usual work, but saw what he usually thought to be quite easy, was hard, and he couldn't quite wrap his head around the numbers that were clearly displayed on the pages of his little black clipboard. With a frustrated sigh, he went to (Y/N) once she was done with her last client for that hour.
"I am sorry to disturb you on your break," he apologized, "But I am currently unable to calculate these numbers."
She took the clipboard from him, earning a couple stares, considering Kyoya almost never lets anyone touch the deemed sacred object. Whoever was able to even glance at the mysterious scribbles and evaluations he most likely put on there, must be very special indeed.
"You're excluding the cost for the extra tea for today, an easily missed minority." She stated softly, being careful not to make a show of the usually adept Vice President, "Even I may have excluded it."
"I don't see how," Kyoya admitted, "It is your favorite after all."
She smiled at his deduction. He was right, though she hadn't told anyone she had found the specific brew to be her favorite. The two were silent for a time before Kyoya spoke up again.
"For tomorrow, will you be wanting your usual tea set? Hunny had chosen the lily patterned one for you today."
(Y/N) giggled as she shook her head, a lighthearted twitter that made Kyoya smile, a rare sight if he wasn't being sinister.
"I guessed as much, and it's your turn to choose, surprise me."
"As always, (Y/N)."
The two parted ways, (Y/N) to continue her break, and Kyoya to go back to his numbers. He sat down at a side table as he recalculated, Tamaki slithering up beside him.
"Cinderella's going to escape you if you don't ask soon." the blonde sang.
"I don't remember now being your scheduled break." Kyoya deadpanned.
"I came to fetch some more tea for my guests." He shrugged.
"The pantry is in the opposite direction." the now exasperated boy pointed out, tired of Tamaki's antics and constant saying of how (Y/N) was more than just a passing interest. More than likely, Kyoya speculated, his current fascination of the girl will disappear when he deems that enough of her back story had been uncovered. As of now, all he knew was that she earned a scholarship to Ouran Academy, and that she comes from a humble background, the rest of her past being clouded over by secrecy.
"So it is." Tamaki stated nonchalantly, "But I think more pressing matters are right here."
"More pressing matters are about to walk their way over here to see what's taking you so long." the boy shot back, noticing the wondering stares from the group of ladies at Tamaki's table, to which the egotistical boy quickly ran back to, not because of the neglect to his current job, but because of the deadly glare Kyoya had fixed upon him. He heard a short twitter, and recognized it as (Y/N)'s. Looking behind him, he saw her with a small cookie in her hand.
"What earned him 'the glare of death'?" She giggled once more, taking the first bite of her perfectly baked treat.
"He was neglecting his duties." Kyoya answered simply.
"Here."
He reared back in surprise as half of the sweet confection was placed in front of his eyes. Looking to the (E/C) eyed girl in confusion, he noted the amused expression on her face.
"It's no chocolate, I'll say that much, but it's always lifted my spirits."
Kyoya took it, still a little confused.
"Thank you... but I'm afraid I'm not partial to sweets..."
(Y/N) smiled knowingly at this.
"Perhaps so, but I would like it if you at least tried it. I made them myself, though no one seems to like them except me." She sighed at this, but then ended on a happy note as she stated that it was just 'more for her', and it was 'there loss'.
A little unsure, Kyoya took a small bite of the cookie finding a surprisingly sweet, yet almost spicy flavor... The taste burned his throat as he swallowed, and he took another bite, though being modest when he did so.
"What kind of cookie is this?" He asked curiously, not being able to pin point the spice used to make it so much like the spicy foods he often adored. Noticing some crumbs on his clipboard, he wiped them away.
"Just a snicker doodle, but I like to add a hint of Cyan Pepper for the extra zing," Smiling at her term used for the flavor, (Y/N) revealed a box from her pack that Kyoya had failed to notice slung by her side, "Here, I brought two boxes, you can have this one."
"Are you sure?" He asked, "I certainly don't want to stunt your stock of goods if you made them yourself."
She laughed, shaking her head as she set the medium sized container on the table.
"I think it's time you learned to take something without worrying about the numbers."
With that she skipped off, leaving Kyoya with no room to protest her generous gift of the spicy, sweet treats.
"She doesn't offer-"
"Her treats to us." The twins stated, looking toward the girl.
"Do you ask her?" Kyoya sighed, seeing the obvious solution to their problem.
"No," Hikarou admitted, "But she doesn't offer either."
"And she's brought those kind more than once." Karou stated.
"She has?" Kyoya didn't remember her bringing them to the Host Club, or at least not in the quantity she had today... how did he miss such a seemingly obvious fact?
"We're surprised you didn't notice, liking her and all." The Hitachin's stated, and left before Kyoya could retaliate to their statement.
He heard another set of footsteps, and sighed.
"If this is a minor matter please do not bother me with it." He turned to see a guest, and he immediately apologized. He decided to offer one of (Y/N)'s cookies, to which the girl turned down.
"I don't know how you two can't smell the spice... it's almost over powering." She stated, and Kyoya smelled the small round object. It was quite nice to him, the perfect balance of spice to sweet... he noted that, it reminded him of (Y/N), and he couldn't help but smile once more as he started nibbling on the small treat.
"I suppose, it is all a matter of opinion."
(Ta-da! Sorry for the wait, but school and other matters have been quite pressing! I hope you all liked the chapter. Please tell me if I'm becoming egotistical with my writing, I don't want the story to lose it's quality, supportive criticism is much appreciated! Thank you for reading!)
