I hung up, and threw my phone across the room.

"Cole?" Lili asked me quietly and got out of bed. "What happened?"

"River passed away." I whispered.

"Oh Cole." She sighed, and came and sat next to me. She pulled me in for a hug, but she shot back.

"Cole, you're burning up!" She exclaimed. She ran out of the room, and came back with a thermometer. She put it in my mouth. She gasped when she read the temperature.

"Cole, I'm taking you to the hospital." Lili said shaking her head.

"No Lili please, please don't." I begged her.

"Cole your temperature is 104 (38˚C) degrees! I'm taking you to the hospital." She snapped. She held my hand, and dragged me to the car. She called Cami once we had got to the car and put her on speaker.

"Hey Cami." Lili sighed, constantly pressing her hand against my forehead.

"Hey Lili. What are you doing?" Cami asked.

"I'm on the way to the hospital with Cole, he's got a high temp." Lili mumbled.

"Fuck, can I do anything?" Cami asked Lili.

"Can you pack a bag for Cole just in case he has to stay?" Lili asked quietly.

"Of course, I hope Cole is okay." Cami sighed.

"Me too Cami, me too." Lili bit her lip. She hung up, and looked at me.

"Do you have any other symptoms? Pain? Fatigue? Vision problems?" Lili gushed.

"Just a bit of pain." I lied, I didn't want to tell her how bad the pain was. I didn't want to worry her. I noticed a tear roll down her cheek.

"Hey, hey Lils." I whispered. "I'll be okay." I held her hand and squeezed it tight. We pulled up and waited in the waiting room of the hospital. The receptionist seemed uneasy about my situation, and sent me in almost straight away. I was set up with an IV, and doctors were fussing. Lili was extremely anxious, and I tried to calm her down. I was taken to another room to have a blood transfusion. I began to have a huge pain in my chest. I tensed up, and Lili began to stress out a lot more. She called a doctor and the doctor began to ask me questions.

"Cole, you have Acute Chest Syndrome. It's very common across patients with Sickle Cell Anemia." The doctor explained to me and Lili. She told me that I will experience more pain and breathing problems and to come to the hospital as soon I can to treat it. I was told I had to stay for several nights so they can track me and my progress. I was set up with a room and I laid in bed with Lili lying on my chest.

"I'm so sorry Cole." Lili whispered.

"What for?" I asked her, stroking her hair.

"That River died today, that you were diagnosed with another disease. You don't deserve this Cole." She had begun to cry.

"Lili you don't need to apologise. Yeah it sucks, but just think how happy we made River. And I could be in a situation so much worse." I whispered to her.

"Yeah I know." She mumbled.

"I'm lucky to have you." I whispered. She looked up at me.

"I'm lucky to have you." She whispered back, and she kissed me.
