The next morning came; to my disappointment, in a flash. I didn't want to leave my bed that morning nor was I eager to go along with what was planned for me.
I nearly groaned when a loud knock sounded on my door and placed the blanket over my head, pretending to be asleep.
After a few more knocks, the person gave up and I smiled, ready to get into the shower when the door was suddenly thrown open, revealing a frantic Rena.
She looked at me. First my messy hair then my satisfied smile and her eyes narrowed. "You are one crazy chick I tell you", she started, gazing once again at my unruly curls.
I offered a grin in return to which she rolled her eyes. "Olivia, every year. The queen holds a ball. The best day for most in this castle. Every time, she picks a maiden, innocent at heart to have a special dance, with her son; young prince Elliot."
I sat on my bed, almost bored out of my mind when Rena shook me, bringing me back to the topic at hand. "YOU have been chosen, doofus! Of all the girls in the castle, you have been chosen and everyone is going green with envy."
I sighed at her before shaking my head. "Though it will be amazing to be the special one for a night. I don't own a gown, neither am I all that princess material. It will be so embarrassing to be up there, looking like a rock in the midst of diamonds."
Rena slapped me, hard. But I didn't flinch. Actually I did. It was painful. 'Ouch man'
"Why do I even know someone so negative? Obviously, the queen noticed you lack some clothes and what not, so she is providing you a shopping day today, but she will pay for EVERYTHING."
I was about to object when Rena threw open the bathroom door and shoved me in. "I'll be back in 10, look presentable and do something with that bush on your head".
I let out a soft chuckle before
Entering the shower. 'Why am I friends with her again?'
I entered the royal lounging area with Rena in tow, and was met with Mrs. James, laughing at something Elliot said.
He stopped smiling as soon as he saw me and stood up, preparing to leave when he was stopped by a hard look from his mother.
"Olivia, Rena how lovely to see you both this morning. Olivia, you will be coming with me today and Rena, you may take your leave", Rena passed me a small encouraging smile, before disappearing behind the large wooden doors.
I thought I would be in awkward silence but the tension was broken when Mrs. James stood up, allowing her dress to follow with an elegant wave.
She smiled at me and tugged me in for a warm hug. "I don't want you feeling weird today, but you are like a daughter to me. So I had to take this opportunity to take you shopping! It is going to be so much fun..."
She rambled on until we reached a black SUV with a very impatient looking Elliot perched in the passenger seat.
Seeing him, made another mouthful to escape Mrs. James, "I didn't want to, but I had to force Ellie to come today. You know how he gets with shopping. Plus, we will need some advice on the different outfits I have planned for today", she ended off with a wink, which left me feeling very uneasy, but nonetheless I smiled.
"I hope I'm not causing much inconvenience."I mumbled when I peeked Elliot's glare.
"Nonsense darling. This is your free day and if anything, we should be the ones troubling"
I smiled at her, grateful and enjoyed the peaceful silence as we drove to the mall. After helping myself out of the car, I took my time to look at the breathtaking scene.
In front of us stood a huge mall with guards at every corner. The walls were made of glass, allowing us to see what lies inside and the water fountains, with different colored water surrounded any free spot.
Families were scattered about, shopping, taking pictures or just relaxing on the fancy styled benches. Groups of friends strutted around, talking animatedly before disappearing into the next shop.
"We better get moving. I got a dress appointment for you in 5 minutes and time is everything here", the queen said, breaking me out of my trance.
I walked beside her into the enormous doors while Elliot followed from behind. After 2 short minutes, we arrived at 'La Belle'. I could tell the place was for no ordinary shoppers as my eyes danced across every expensive material used for their breathtaking finishes.
"Bonjour, Madam James and Ma'am Olivia. How nice to see you two drooling at my creations. Is that Elliot at the back? Sir Elliot, future king of England. What a wonderful occasion are you have to come here", a tall French lady greeted with a welcoming smile and mocking bow.
Unfazed by her broken English, Mrs. James went forward to pull her into a tight hug."Oh Belle. You are keeping so well. You know exactly why I'm here" Mrs. James said with a small smirk
Not long after, Belle had a matching smirk and they both turned to face me. My confusion couldn't be more apparent as their eyes flew between Elliot and me, the smirks growing with every passing second.
"Look Belle, I love you, I really do. But if you and my mum don't stop being creepy, we will have problems." Elliot said while pulling out his phone and sitting down.
"He is such a fun kill Mame' Musel'", said belle rolling her eyes and pulling over a rack of different colored dresses.
"I couldn't agree more", Mrs. James said as a frown found its way to her face.
She then proceeded to shoo her sulking son out of the boutique before turning to me with an evil smirk.
