Chapter 10

"Oh hi Satou!" I tried to sound cheerful but even I could tell that my voice was dripping with worry. "Is something wrong?" She looked worried now as well. "No, not really..." What was I supposed to say? I'm being followed by an old gang that I used to be in? If I introduced them to Satou they'd make fun of me, and Tora would probably flirt with her.

How would I get around this? "Satou?" Her mom's head popped into our isle. "Oh! Masahiro! Hello there." She waved. "Hello..." I waved a little back. "Oh, so you're feeling better?" She looked a bit suspicious. "Yeah, after having some of my mom's soup and some medicine I feel a lot better." I quickly replied. "Oh! Well that's good. I wanted to come over to make you some myself but then you texted me..." She said nervously. "Sorry, I didn't want you getting sick and missing school because of me." I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly.

"Satou. We need to go now." Her mom said. "Oh! Okay," she turned back to me. "See you tomorrow?" "Yeah." I nodded and watched her leave.

I walked around the store to grab the rest of the stuff. Satou and her mom left and turned in the opposite direction of Tora's group. I sighed in relief and bought the stuff.

After talking for a bit and eating their stuff, they all departed, leaving me with Yabase.

"Hey Masahiro." Yabase said quietly. "Oh! Yeah?" I looked over at the shorter boy. "You dating that girl from earlier?" He asked bluntly. "Hmm? What girl?" I hadn't really processed his words until after I answered. "That one in the store with the short blue hair." He answered. Oh crap. He'd seen me with Satou. "Her? No she's just in my class at school." I replied. "Mhm. You like her?" He was prodding. "Maybe, maybe not," I shrugged, trying to keep calm. "Why do you care?

Yabase didn't talk after that. He seemed uncomfortable. He eventually just uttered a 'tch' and stormed off. Why was he so talkative in the first place anyways?

"Hey Setagawa!" Kensuke called from behind me. I turned awkwardly, had he seen the guys? Hasekura was beside him with an expression that basically screamed he was suspicious but Kensuke looked as happy and stupid as always.

"Hey." I waved a bit. "What are you doing here?" Kensuke asked. "Oh...I was just out for a walk." I lied. "Bump into an old pal on the way?" Hasekura chirped in bluntly.

"Hmm? You were meeting up with someone?" Kensuke tilted his head to the side like a puppy. "Looked like the fly was meeting up with someone sketchy too." Hasekura raised his eyebrows.

Jeez he wasn't one to keep his mouth shut either.
