Chapter 6|A blessed curse

Kaylee's POV:

I don't know why I drink when every weekend I get a horrible hangover and promise myself that I will never ever even sniff it again, But the thing is I'm doing that right now as the side effects of last night come knocking by.

I have a very vague memory of last night and some I'm not sure even happened...Did I really get on top of a table with a stranger and start belting out the Macarena song and dancing to it as well? These are probably not questions people usually have when they wake up...but It's me.

"I have handled Shanaya and Kayra, you can say thank you to me later", Caleb says walking into my thoughts and private moment with a proud and arrogant smirk settled on his face.

"How'd ya handle them? You've never drunk before and in fact you hate alcohol".

"You know Ziyad and Allister drink and since I don't I am the assigned hangover caretaker", he says while putting down equipment to nurse be back to a state of mind where I remember to kill him for barging in on me at five thirty in the morning.
(although I have done that to him a couple time...but we'll forget that for now).

"Let's get this done with, you nimbos won't be able to get through the day without me on perfect shape".

"Firstly: Nimbos? and Secondly: How do you have the courage to insult when I'm going to save you."

"We don't got time for your this boy, Get to work chop chop!"

"Why do I deal with this everyday?, I'm the freaking older one!", Caleb whisper shouts to himself while getting the concoctions ready.

The truth is I genuinely don't know what I would do without him...probably be in a pit(I'm not kidding...he once pulled me out of a gutter...yeah let's not get into that).

Two hours later

"Now Caleb please explain to us why we are in a mud bath at seven in the morning!"

We were currently lying in a tub of mud which my dear brother so greatly recommended to us and as none of us were in the right minds to comprehend what he said we obviously agreed.

"Mud baths are the authentic ways to de tox NIMBOS,Obviously you guys need to get over that hangover"

"Don't Nimbo me boy! and I thought we were cured when you made us drink that god awful concoction"

"Okayyy I don't see the problem, I mean they gave us champagne which by the way is for free"Shanaya said interrupting our argument and sipping champagne while she does so.

I notice how she was desperately trying to make sure nobody saw that Caleb had so obviously did all of this for her, Everybody knows that nothing cheers her up like a nice day at the spa.

"Are you fucking kidding?!WE ARE IN A TUB OF MUD WHICH LOOKS A LOT LIKE SHIT"

Hayley was obviously not taking any of the bullshit.I didn't blame her one bit, I mean it really did look like shit.

"How'd ya find this place?, I mean it's literally in the middle of
nowhere...you must of done a lit if research"Alec said impressed but actually prodding for info just for Shanaya.

I send him a wink seeing how slyly he's trying to set the pair up.

"It wasn't that hard and could you all just give me some peace after all I won't be getting much on this trip"My dear brother says obviously trying to act casual and as if he didn't do something he didn't need to.

"Okay guys I'm sorry but I can't take anymore of this monstrosity"Hayley says.

"Me neither besides Alec needs to help me with something so we'll leave"I say trying to give them some alone time.

"Help you with what?"Alec says dumbfounded.

I give him a look and that seems enough for him to understand as he says"Oh yeah, I gotta help with this thing that's like super important ...so I'm just gonna go do that".

As we leave Hayley takes the words right out of my mouth by saying"Your a horrible liar, like literally the worst I have seen and that's saying something cause it's me".

"Your the only person I know who can insult both themselves and others"Alec says.

"It's a blessing and a curse"Hayley says with a exasperated sigh.

I leave those two and go to talk to Kayra, She said she'd join us later but never seemed to show up.

I go to the bus and there she is looking at what seems to be pictures of a girl.She looks up and realises that she didn't come.

"I'm so sorry-"

"Don't be, I get it your going through stuff and if you ever wanna talk to somebody I'm here"

She looks at me as if she's analysing whether she can talk to me or not .I then look at the pictures and breaking the ice I say"Your best friend?"

"Girlfriend,well Ex-girlfriend I guess"
She finally says.

"What happened?Sorry I shouldn't have asked that".

"It's fine.She um kept a lot of really big secrets from me and I just kinda feel like what's love without respect...I mean I told her every part of me and she just left out this whole chunk of her life".

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, are you sure you wanna be going on this trip with us?"I said not realising that I could have pressured her into coming with us at the time.

"No, I mean if you guys are okay with it I would love to be I don't know friends and come with ya".She said sheepishly,not knowing how to ask exactly.

"We would be really happy to have you come with us, We're a small family,but a really happy one".

"I could use some happy right now, Thanks by the way for taking me off of the streets literally"She said chuckling at the end.

"No problemo,Could I give you some advice by chance?"

"I wish somebody would"

"Love always overcomes the hate and anger".

She looked at me as if she was letting it sinking in and then took a breath and let out"Thank you".

I only nodded and then left to Alec who was watching mine and Kayra's conversation.

"I don't care what Twilight says this is straight up creepy"I say referring to him low key stalking me.

"It was about us too, wasn't it?"

"Which?The part about taking her of the streets?Cause I have done that for you in ways, remember that time we-"

"Kaylee."

"That's the name"To which he responded with a look and I of course obliged.

"Fine .We can get the pizza with pineapple if it means that much to you".

"So it was, I wanna know what happened,you avoid it like the plague and you don't have to your don't need to protect me".

"It's not just for you, it's for me too, I don't wanna go back there so can we please drop it"I ask pleasingly not wanting to dive into a traumatic past.

"Fine, but now that you say it we will get the pizza with the pineapple"He says deflating the situation for me and that's why I love him, always understanding and never pressures me.

"There's no possible way for me to get back from that is there?"I say smiling and silently thanking him.

"Nope."

"At least I tried"

I'm aware that this chapter was a little devoid of excitement and I'm not the most proud it and I think the chapters before could have been better but I'm learning as I go so bare with me or the characters if you love them.
