Shay's POV

The house was filled with our closest family and friends, talking and celebrating. Our mothers and aunts were in the kitchen making dinner, Rian's father and our brothers were on the couch, talking animatedly. I glanced behind me at Rian, who was deep in conversation with Matt as they drank their beers. I slowly lifted up my phone, seeing that it was nearly midnight, letting out a quiet sigh.
After everything that happened, I felt as though I was in a fairytale and that when the clock strikes midnight, all of the magic would be stripped from my life. I let out another small sigh. This was what every girl ever wanted in her life, an impromptu romantic gesture from her true love, yet somehow I wasn't so sure if it was what I had wanted. When I left for work this morning, I was planning on postponing the wedding for another year, extending our engagement. When I got home, though, I was caught off guard. Wouldn't you be? Do I regret marrying Rian, though? Not one bit.
I made my way to the patio door, placing a soft kiss on Rian's cheek before stepping out into the cold. I dialed the all too familiar number and slowly lifted the phone to my ear, listening to it ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey." I smiled, though I knew he couldn't see me.
"How'd it go with Rian?" Hunter asked. I walked down the candle lined path, taking a seat on the steps of the gazebo.
"Well," I let out a quiet breath, "we got married?"
"WHAT?" Hunter shouted through the phone, making me wince as I pulled the phone away from my ear. "What the hell happened? I thought you were going to postpone the wedding-"
"I was going to, but I came home from work this afternoon and he had the backyard all set up and he had roses and it was so beautiful Hunt." I muttered.
"Did you want to get married or were you coerced? Because I think we can legally get you out of it if you were-"
"Hunt," I giggled, listening as the man on the other line let out a sigh of his own. "I think I wanted to."
"You think? Shay, this isn't like buying a shirt at the mall. This is a lifelong commitment. You can't just return it if you don't like it."
"I know Hunter, but I love Rian and yeah, it might not be the timeline I was hoping for, but it's what I've wanted from the beginning of our relationship."
"Okay," He let out a breath, "If you're happy then I'm happy, Shay."
"Thank you Hunt, seriously."
"You're welcome."
"I'll call you in a couple of days."
"Bye Shay."
"Bye Hunt." I ended the call and set my phone next to me. I looked up just in time to see Rian appraching me with two glasses in his hands, one with red wine and one with what looked to be bourbon. "I hope you're planning on drinking that wine because I'm not getting that anywhere near by dress." Rian chuckled quietly, passing me the brown drink as he took a sip of the red.
"How'd he take it?"
"What?" I asked, tilting my head to the side as I looked up at my husband.
"Hunter. I figured you'd call him to tell him what happened." Rian answered as he took a seat next to me. "He's the only one of your close friends who wasn't here."
"He took it as well as to be expected." I shrugged. We were silent for a moment, watching our relatives through the door.
"How are you feeling?"
"I feel bad that I didn't invite him."
"I meant about all of this." Rian laughed quietly, shaking his head.
"Oh." I giggled, making him smile. "Good. Really good." I looked up at my husband's face, which was illuminated perfectly by the fairy lights, admiring the sight. After a moment, he turned and smiled, making my cheeks heat up.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Just admiring my handsome husband." I grinned. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my brother stick his head out of the door.
"Guys! C'mon! Your reception dinner is ready!"
