The pair emerged from shadowy forest into a clearing, where several trees had a red string wrapped around them.

"The traps are here. There should be some rabbits in them."

"Yeah, I'll check the ones over there," Clementine gestured to the right.
"But first, what were you going to say? You said you wanted to talk to me."

"Damnit, these traps are all empty!"

"Louis-"

"Sorry, Clem. Can we just check the other traps first?"

"Wow, you're all talk until it comes to you confronting your-"

"Louis! Clementine!" Violet hissed, out of sight.

"Vi?" Louis asked.

Violet and AJ appeared from behind some tall scrub, Violet looking alarmed.

"There you are," she said and walked towards the pair, AJ trailing behind her.

"Clem..." he said worriedly.

"Willy spotted something... suspicious. It was headed in your direction, so we came to get you- and uh, I couldn't convince AJ to stay at the school," Violet said cautiously.

"Suspicious? What do you think it was? Or who it was..." Clementine trailed off.

"Saw two figures. Probably from the raider group. We should get back to the school."

"Vi, the traps caught nothing. Or, the food's been stolen. What are we going to do?" Louis admitted.

"It's more dangerous to stay out here, than going hungry for one night. We'll talk about it later," Violet urged.

"Alright," Louis shrugged.

"Wait. Hold still a sec," Clem halted in her tracks and peered over some brush to where a familiar figure was lurking.
"Sh*t," she muttered under her breath. Louis and Violet were still ahead of them.
"AJ, get down."

She watched him pacing, his different coloured eyes darting back and forth, scouring the area for movement.

"That's the man from the train station?" AJ asked.

"Yes."

"The one Brody was scared of."

"Yeah. Stay here," Clementine said.
She picked her moment and leapt from behind the tree to attack the man. Abel.

Clementine lurched a knife towards his chest but he pushed back before it reached him, wrestling her until she finally pushed him the ground.

"Just walk away and we'll let you go," she warned sternly, gritting her teeth.

Her face dropped when suddenly she felt something, a rifle, perhaps, digging into her back. She quickly raised her hands in surrender.
