Colors swam in Gohan's vision, a kaleidoscope of reds, blues, greens, and yellows. Visions parsed through the watercolor ocean. He saw his mother, smiling at him with that same prideful look she always had. He saw Android 18 and Maron in the midst of some child's game. He saw his brother Goten, along with Vegeta's son Trunks, Mr. Popo, and a few others on the lookout. He saw Mr. and Mrs. Briefs sitting together on the balcony at Capsule Corp. He even saw his own face for a moment, soft features and spiky black hair. Finally, Gohan saw his wife. In Videl's arms was their infant daughter, Pan. Even with Pan crying they both looked so happy, so full of life. Though the colors overtook his thoughts, in the back of his mind, he knew they were. This was the work of Whis. He turned back time.
When the visual cacophony faded away, and Gohan was once again returned to his senses, he stood in the same spot he had moments ago. All around him were his friends and family. Before him, a blue-haired Vegeta lorded over a defeated Freeza.
"How—" Freeza fell to his hands an knees. "How could this happen? Of all the beings in the universe, the one to get the better of me is Vegeta?"
To Gohan's right, his father let out a yell. He looked over to see Goku's messy black hair stand on end and turn blue. A similar aura surrounded him. His power was overwhelming, like nothing Gohan had ever felt before.
"At least try to face your death with some shred of honor," Vegeta said, though Gohan barely heard him. When Vegeta held up his hand, a blue ball of energy materialized a few inches way from his palm.
Goku did something similar. He held is hands about a foot apart at his right hip. An energy sphere formed inside the void. Goku continued to yell as his power level rose even further.
"Stop him!" Implored Krillin.
"Don't dream of resurrecting again," Vegeta threatened Freeza.
Goku took off, still yelling at the top of his lungs. He flew in a wide arc, a b-line for Vegeta and Freeza, whom were still none the wiser. Gohan had to remind himself that the two of them hadn't traveled back in time the same way he had. To them, this was all happening for the first time.
"You can all go to hell without me," Freeza all but growled.
"Out of the way, Vegeta!" Goku screamed the command.
Vegeta looked over his shoulder, a look of shock which turned to pure rage. He stood defiant between Goku and their collective prize.
"No! You're not taking this from me, not after all these years!" Vegeta faced his right to Goku and placed his hands at his waist, one overturned inside the other. "Galik Gun, fire!"
Vegeta thrust his hands out parallel before him. A wide beam of pure purple energy ensued from his being. Goku had but a second to be surprised before the danger forced him to act. He thrust out his own hands, wrists together vertically and fingers curled over the blue energy which shot from them. The two beams met in midair. Their ends splayed out at the point of contact. Blue pushed against purple, which fought back in a desperate effort to gain ground.
"What is he doing?" Piccolo wondered aloud.
"We should've known he would Vegeta this up," scoffed Tien.
"Vegeta, stop! He's about to destroy the world," Goku plead.
"Don't lie to me, Kakarot. You're just trying to steal all the glory. You did it with Cell, you did it with Beerus, and now you want to take this one, too! You already killed him once!"
"This is different. You can't stop him!"
"You dare lecture me? One victory is all I ask, but you can't even give me that. This is my birthright!"
