two.
twinsThe Scarlett family sat at the dining table while talking about how everyone's year had been. Miss Scarlett had gotten a promotion at the paper, Mister Scarlett had gotten new clients for his divination store — something both Alex and Selina found ridiculous and had complained about until last year when he finally earned money from it — and the twins had told them about how they had a good year — which they had not.
Everything seemed to be going okay until their father brought up how he thought it was quite sad that Grams hadn't come inside. The twins hadn't been sure how to respond, but luckily their mother saved them.
"She didn't show up to get the children," their mother told him, making their father look up.
"She didn't?" He asked, with a confused look in his eyes.
"She's getting old, Peter," their mother said, while taking his hand in her own. "She probably just forgot."
"You're right." Their father lifted his hand together with their mother's and gave a small kiss on hers.
The family resumed eating until Selina and Alex decided to excuse themselves.
"Will you—"
Selina cut their mother off. "I will, Mum."
The twins went upstairs and into Alex's room. Selina sat down on his bed and looked over at her brother. Patting on the bed, she signaled for him to come over.
Her brother must've realised what she meant as he asked, "Do we have to, Mum would never know?"
"Alexander," she scolded, using his full name — something her brother had always hated.
Her brother let out a sigh and took of his shirt, revealing his scars. It was such an awful sight that Selina almost couldn't bare to look at it, but her mother was always scared that he would somehow get hurt, bleed and die without them knowing, which was why everyday their mother wanted one of them to check if he was hurt.
"See, I'm not hurt," he told her, while even doing a twirl for effect.
"Mum's just worried and, to be honest, so am I." Selina looked at her brother, who had put his shirt back on and sat down next to her.
"I know, but I'm not child, not anymore." Alex began fiddling with his shirt — a sign he was nervous. "It's just — I know I had a tragic childhood because of those three days, but I'm still me. I'm still your brother that used to play with you on the street, only to get scolded by our Mum after."
"I know, Alex," she told him, while she embraced him. She felt a shiver go down her spine as she felt the scratch at the back of his neck, it had almost been the reason he died — he had been taking to the hospital, but had a bit longer hair as a kid, which was why they hadn't seen the rather large scratch. "Just know, I'm here for you, okay?"
"I know," he whispered and for a while the twins just embraced each other, both of them wanting to remember this.

The next day, Selina put on her favourite cropped hoodie to irritate Penelope because it was read. She knew it was quite childish, but she didn't care. She already had to spent a day hanging out with the Winstons, so she might as well have a bit of fun.
She went downstairs and saw her brother eating a bowl of cereal.
"Good morning," Selina told him, at which he just gave a slight wave because he was eating. "When are the Winstons coming over?"
"At eleven o'clock," their mother said as she appeared from the living room. She seemed to be in a rather good mood compared to the other times that the Winstons came over, Selina guessed it had to with that only Chris and Penelope were coming over, who would spent their time with Selina and Alex. "So, you have half an hour to get ready."
"Thank you, Mum," she told her as she grabbed a bowl of cereal for herself.
Sitting down next to Alex, she looked at what he was doing — nothing fun. He was busy looking at a letter he had received from one of his friends.
"Who sent you a letter?" She asked, hoping to get a conversation started, which worked.
"From Jerome, he's going to Spain this vacation."
Selina groaned remembering back to a time when she and her brother had basically begged their parents each vacation to go somewhere, which never worked.
"Lucky boy," she answered, gaining a laugh from her brother.
"Yeah, he is." Alex ate the last bit of cereal and pushed the bowl away from him when he was done.
"Alexander, wash it first!" Their mother said as she walked past them with two cups of coffee towards the living room, where their father was sitting on one of the couches.
Her brother groaned, something Selina laughed at before eating her cereal. He stood up and walked away to clean the bowl. Her eyes landed on the letter and in a second she made her decision.
"Dear Alex," she began to say, making her brother turn around.
"Selina, no!" He yelled as he ran towards her, not turning the water off.
"I'll really miss you this summer," she resumed, while dodging her brother's attempt to get the letter. "Luckily, we'll see each other again next year. See, I told you he was a lucky—!"
Selina was cut off as she got a bowl of water in her face, surprising her. "Merlin, Alexander."
She quickly ran past her brother — dropping the letter on the counter — and filled the bowl again. Her brother, who had been reaching for the letter, had not seen the bowl of water either.
Their mother came into the kitchen after hearing a lot of noise and was met with the sight of two wet kids. "They could be here any minute and you're throwing water at each other. Merlin, look at your hair!"
Selina took a strand of her hair into her hands and noticed that they were the most wet out of all of it. Luckily, her hoodie had been magically saved as it was as good as dry.
The smiles on the twins faces disappeared however when the doorbell sounded, signalling the arrival of the Winston kids.
"Alexander, Selina, you'll take them to the playground a bit farther down the street, so that I can clean up your mess, understood?" Their mother asked, her positive mood already gone.
The twins both nodded and went towards the front door to greet the Winstons, preparing to spent a long day at the playground with them.
