In Arcadia....I sluggishly make my back to my home, which empty and filled with a solemn silence. I place my book bag on the living room table and make my way up to my room. I once remember my bag being filled with famous Shakespeare plays such as "Hamlet" and "Romeo and Juliet". Now its mostly empty and filled with only a few notebooks and broken pencils. I trekked my way to my room, which felt like an entirety.
However, something stopped me from going into my room directly, and instead I made way over to Enrique's room. I opened the door, and peeked into my little brother's room. The atmosphere of the room was almost tangible. The crib was made neatly, the books left untouched in a corner of the room. There was no sign of my brother in here. There was no sign of my changling brother in the room.
I guess its only fair. I brought points in our argument that should've been left un-said. It seems our falling out had an effect on him after all.
---
"What's gotten into to you love?"
I held my hands clenched on my face, groaning in frustration.
"Nothing you would understand." I responded coldly.
NotEnrique sighed. "Is it your school grades again? You really need to get back on it. You were one of the smartest students in your class."
"Exactly, was." I replied coldly.
"So what, your giving up?!"
"Yeah, and none of this would have happened Jim had just stayed."
"You know why he did it, don't go putting your homework problems on him."
"This is not about homework anymore. HE LEFT US! WENT INTO THE DARKLANDS ALONE! AND FOR ALL WE KNOW IS THAT HE IS PROBABLY DEAD!"
"It was his choice, you couldn't do anything to stop him. His voiced raised ever so slightly.
"HE HAD A CHOICE! NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF MY BROTHER HADN'T BEEN SWITCHED WITH YOU! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT. It's... all your... fault." My knees gave out under me and I fell to the ground, holding my shaking figure. Tears escaped my eyes, and silent wails escaped my lips. NotEnrique jumped down to the floor and held his hand out to me, but I smacked it away.
"GET OUT OF HERE!" I cried.
"Wha- you don't mea-"
"I SAID GET OUT!" I threw a nearby book at him, and he crawled on all fours to dodge it. He sighed and silently climbed toward the window. Before he left, I saw him take a glance at me, and then jumped out the window.
My cries turned into a sob as I curled up into a ball on the floor. Truth be told, he's been so gentle these past years, while everyone went there seprate ways, he stayed by me the whole time. And now-
I'm all alone.
———
I sighed and closed my brother's door, and headed off to my room. The floors creaked ever so slightly with each step I took. Upon reaching my room, I flopped down onto my bed, and gave a pained sigh. I turned my head to the picture that laid on my dresser. The three of us... we were so happy. Wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
