we wandered around the supermarket for a bit, mostly the snack aisles, picked up a few bags of those delicious caramel popcorn, and stopped in our tracks after we went around the store in a circle for the fifth time.

"i'm tired," jeongin complained, "this is boring."

"you're right," i said while scrolling through my phone disinterestedly, "let's go to the checkout."

so, needless to say, we payed for our snacks and headed back to our apartment complex. we were one step in the lobby when we noticed - the elevators were under maintenance. both of them.

"sorry, you'll have to use the stairs," the worker apologized in pity, "or you two can hang out somewhere for...two hours or so."

"two hours?" i looked at him in disbelief, then turned to jeongin, "bro, we'll just take the stairs. we live on the sixth floor anyway."

he nodded, "agreed."

and we began our journey back to our homeland - stray kids's apartment.

"are we there yet?" i whined once more.

"n. o. no. this is the last time i'm responding to you. dumbass," he glared at me, standing on the top step of the staircase.

"what? why?"

"you asked me this approximately four times, and we're only on the third floor."

"wait. how do you know which floor we're on?"

"..." he slowly points to the sign next to him, that, coincidentally, said '3rd floor'.

i let out a small chuckle, "whoops."

he sighed, "i should just leave you here."

"no wait!" i exclaimed.

should i tell him?

actually, i should.

"wanna know a secret?" i anxiously started.

"yeah sure?" he gave me his confused stare.

with the last bit of my adrenaline, i spoke.
