The house in the woods

In the middle of the forest

Amber trudged through the muddy ground that smelt of carcasses and faeces, slowly, unnoticeably sinking with every step. She was still trying to process the fact that her best friend, had just been maliciously dragged into the forest and murdered. She cried out into the cloudy sky, " why!? Why did you have to take her away from me??!! She was my only friend!" She collapsed in a depressed heap, just wanting to go home.

Samantha had been her best friend ever since she moved to riverside elementary in grade 5. Everybody called her 'ghost girl' or 'psycho killer' because of her dad. Her father was a well known killer in the small townie riverside before Samantha even moved there. Her dad was wealthy and rich and met Samantha's mum. They fell in love and had Samantha. And when Samantha was 6, her father killed her mum and kidnapped Samantha, leaving her in the woods alone to die. Then amber found her one night in the back of her house and her parents adopted her, but Sam always had that look as if she would rip out someone's throats and watch them eat it. For fun.

Amber was too busy daydreaming to realise that she was now knee deep in mud. " that smells disgusting " she said while trying not to gag. She tried to lift her foot out of the mixture of carcasses and animal droppings, and started sinking further into the freezing pit. "Just fucking perfect " she exclaimed with a sarcastic tone, while clawing at the dirt 5 feet away from her. " I'm going to die, and I haven't even hit 22 yet" she cried out as she curled up into a ball and accepted her fate, but she had a sudden realisation. There were roots creeping into the bog, so with all of the strength she could summon up, she ripped her hand out of the water and latched onto a thick root, and pulled like there was no tomorrow. All of what is left of her strength was slammed into helping her up onto the dirt nearly under her. All she had to do was one more pull, and she would escape death itself. She heaved her slim figure out of the muddy grave and lied down on the cold hard ground, weeping again about her dead friend.
