Chapter X
Eyes Closed

Tyler's P.O.V.

I sighed. Of course the one and only Raquel Fae had to make a scene. Of course she wouldn't leave without making me feel guilty. Not that I am.

That's mainly the reason why I avoided her. Well, that is, until now. I had decided on giving her a chance and guess what? She blew it.

I huffed as I entered my car, pressing on the ignition button. I drove off, not really knowing where to go.

Home? Yeah sure. If, it weren't so lonely. Mall? I already got all the things I need for a lifetime.

Unknowingly, I drove to a little place a bit close to water. The place where I usually spend all the time to talk my feelings through.

I drove past the busy city to the beach. It wasn't just any beach though, my family owns this. And it's like they don't care about this place anymore. I hope they did because this is a hidden beauty all by itself.

I parked my car beside the property, walking past the trees that were dancing softly from the wind. I inhaled deeply, picking up the scent of the sea. It calms me down, relives me from the stress and is like a mother to me. It doesn't do advices, but it is a great listener and calmer.

I took my shoes off before walking towards the shore. I sat down right at where the water meets the sand. I let my legs drown in the cold water.

"I'm confused. Both my love life and my actual life. I like Ainsley, but I'm sure that the feelings aren't mutual." I spoke to the sea.

"My life is basically a mess. I don't know what to do right now. I have good grades, lots of money but, I just don't know what to do with it." I took a pebble, admiring it before throwing it far away.

I let the cool breeze cool off the confusion. I shivered at the sensation, tilting my head back and closing my eyes.

"I just don't know what to do anymore. Should I chase Ainsley? Take over the business like my father would want? But, would I even be happy? Do I deserve it?"

Eugene's P.O.V.

I arrived home, eyes droopy and tired. I unlocked the door and dragged my feet against the marble tiling. I dropped my keys off the coffee table and threw myself to the couch.

Soft and fluffy. Just how I like it.

I stretched out my limbs before walking to my bedroom. I changed my clothes into a plain black shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants.

I sighed, heading over to my workroom. I had quite a number of papers to grade. I took out the stack of papers and my red pen. I began checking and crossing out the worksheets.

An hour later, I fished out my laptop and started recording the scores. I flipped paper by paper, until I came across a perfect mark. I looked over the pages and realised that it was Ainsley's.

A perfect mark. Of course. She never get below a 90.

I began inputing her score into my computer before my phone rang.

I lifted it and swiped.

"Hello?"

"Eugene, please meet me at my office tomorrow. I need to talk to you."

"Yes of course fa-sir. I will be there."

He ended the call. What does he want now? I did everything that he wanted.

"Hello Ms. Fae. How can I help you today?"

"I need to speak with the principal."

"Of course. Please wait."

The secretary lifted the phone and said, "Excuse me sir. Ms. Fae would like to see you."

"Let her in."

She nodded at her and she went inside the big office. She's been here more than she can remember. She was holding a black case and lifted it up and placed it on the principal's table, crushing a few papers.

"The regular, please. This has exactly 1,000 dollars." She spoke with a rough tune.

"Ms. Fae. Please mind your manners or I won't grant you your clean records." The principal spoke, squinting his already small eyes.

"Fine. Here's your money." She rolled her eyes and walked out he door.

The principal hesitated, but gives out a satisfied sigh as he counted the money. He carefully lifted the case up, making sure no other papers were damaged. He placed it securely in a rather large safe behind a cabinet.

He went on his computer, typing in several letters and cleaned her monthly record.

Ainsley's P.O.V.

I scribbled harshly on the poor sheet of paper, determined to dig out the answer.

After a few minutes a satisfied smile crept on to my lips. I have been studying for a couple of hours. I placed my pen down before scurrying down to the kitchen.

Mom isn't home yet. I wanna help her. But she says I can't. Because well, reasons.

I slid open the drawer, finding something to eat. I was hungry. I finally found something decent to eat. I walked out to the sofa, plopping myself down and munched quietly. I fiddled with the packaging once I'm done, contemplating on some chemistry questions. I'm not sure if I'm just bad at chemistry but I just don't understand anything the teacher says. Her words just went through my brain like a bullet train. I couldn't catch it. My brows furrowed as I thought about the metaphor I used. I laughed softly and rolled my eyes. The house was so quiet people might think a ghost might've lived here. My mind cleared itself from chemistry before tripping over an important topic, math.

Oddly though, I didn't think about the lesson. I thought about the teacher. I snapped out of my thoughts as my phone rang. I picked it up, ignoring the "unknown" written on it.

"Hello?"

"Hello Ainsley."

Speaking of the devil.
