After dealing with the after effects of the nightmare, I realized, I had managed to sleep in, again.
Not to worried about it, I groggily got up and made my way to the bathroom that uncle had insisted be built onto my room when he found out that I would be coming to live.
Slowly I got my self bathed and ready to face the music downstairs from Edith and Uncle for being gone past dark.I made my way down the staircase quickly only to find that apparently everyone had left early for the begining festivities.
Looking over at the great grandfather clock that was visible through the drawing room doors, I realized that I had four hours yet till Thomas would be here to get me.
Deciding to read until it was time, I made my way to the library that had a window facing out towards the street that would allow me to see Thomas when he arrived. Taking up a random book I sat down and began to rapidly consume the story.
~6 hours later~
Setting aside my now finished book, I glanced over to the clock realizing that the time for Thomas to come fetch me, had come and gone. Uncle and Edith would be returning at any moment. Not wishing them to see that I was dressed to impress, I made a mad dash for the stairs. I had almost made it when the front door opened. First Uncle came in, already he was working on removing his bowtie and jacket, when in walked Edith on the arm of a tall dark haired man. It wasn't until he turned to help Edith with her wrap, did I realize that it was Thomas. I felt my heart breaking as I watched them interact.
"Thomas, we really must be going." a quite but cold voice came from the still opened door. A tall striking woman in a rich maroon gown stepped closer to the entrance. She was a tall beautiful woman with dark almost black hair piled high, showing off her creamy long neck. Although beautiful, something about her made my blood run cold.
"Yes, you are correct sister dearest. Ms. Edith, please allow me to come calling on you again?" Thomas's words are finally what did me in. I let out a hiccup before dashing the rest of the way up to my rooms. I slammed my door closed and turned the key, locking it from the inside.
I climbed into bed not caring that I would ruin my gown and burred my face into my pillows and cried myself to sleep.
