I stopped and looked back at her questioningly.

"I'd like to talk with you..." she trailed of hesitantly. "That is, if you're willing to," she added.

I paused before giving a slight nod. "Sure," I came back down the few steps and in her direction. She turned to walk towards the kitchen with me following close behind her. She took a seat at the kitchen table and she motioned to the seat beside her.

I took my seat and she offered me a small smile. "I want to fix our relationship," she stated, being straightforward about it which I was thankful for. "I'm sorry for everything we've done to hurt you or all the stress put on your shoulders," she hung her head in shame simply at the thought of what they'd done to me.

"Mom," I called to catch her attention. Her head raised and looked towards me. "I told you already not to worry about it," I assured. "Don't dwell too much on what's been done, instead focus on what you could do now," I stated.
