Chapter 9 – The Bullies
Ariel’s brothers watched as the tall blond beauty stormed past their security guards, through the middle of their game, and towards the direction of the cars. It didn’t take a genius to realize she was royally pissed. Her heals made an annoying ‘click clack’ sound until she finally stepped into her car. They watched in horror as her tires screeched out of their driveway at a frightening speed.
“What’s gotten into her?” Nathan raised a brow
“That my brother, is a woman leaving unsatisfied after a terrible sexual experience” Samuel butted in, his arrogant laugh echoed through the courtyard, yet no one but Nathan laughed along with him.
Johnny threw the ball at his brothers, disgusted by their rude remarks. As much as they treated Ariel like one of the guys, he could never see her that way. After their mother passed away and their father went on a mad mission to make himself filthy rich and keep Velts Enterprises running, it was up to him to take care of his younger siblings. Of course they had nannies and guards at all times, but neither of them had ever felt love in their company, money was what kept them there, and the Velts siblings had understood this from the beginning.
Johnny looked up to see his sister looking out from her window, her eyes following the car.
Over the years, Ariel had learned to put on a poker face, and as usual Johnny couldn’t tell what could possibly be going through her mind. After the car disappeared from her line of sight, she let out a sigh, before going back into her room. Johnny motioned for his brothers to keep the game going while he went upstairs to check on her.
Moments later Ariel heard faint knocks on her door, she opened it to find Johnny looking at her with deep concern.
“Are you alright?” he asked. She laughed a bit before telling him she was okay. She was about to close the door when he stepped in. He looked around and picked up the photo album that she had dropped earlier. He skimmed through the pictures and smiled.
“We had a belly ache for weeks after this Halloween, remember?” She smiled back at him
“Yeah, you and I, Nathan and Samuel seem to be just fine no matter what they put in their stomachs” they shared a laugh and Johnny motioned for her to sit with him on her bed.
Together, they went over several other pictures of them, from when they were kids. They laughed and commented on each one…until they got to a picture of Ariel and Barbara. The picture had been taken at school and it was simply just both of them smiling at the camera. Ariel tried to take the album back but Johnny stopped her.
“What happened to us Ari?” he said calling her by the nickname he had given her as a baby
“You haven’t used that name with me in years, you feeling okay?” She said trying to sway the conversation in another direction.
