It's been a couple hours since Sam calmed down and accepted what's going on. Alan got permission from the doctor to take Sam out to lunch and they chose to go to a small diner just across the street. They sit in a small booth for two behind a wall, so that they have privacy to talk about the case.
"So I know this will be tough, but you will have to face your father. You just have to remember that you are safe and in good hands, and there's no way he can hurt you if there are other people there." Alan is looking at Sam, with a genuine sound in his voice.
They are taking turns talking, Sam asks questions, Alan answers. They have sat in the diner for a couple hours and finally decided to leave since it was getting dark. Before they get up, Alan asks Sam for permission to run by his office to grab something he needs for CPS. Sam nods his head and they both head out. As Alan waves down a taxi, he looks at Sam and says, "Don't tell your doctor." They both laugh as they get in the backseat of the taxi.
"500 Boylston."
Once they get there, they both walk towards Alan's office to grab what he needed. They walk through the busy halls, full of clients and lawyers. Sam sees people in meetings behind large glass walls, some people look angry as they speak, others look as if they were about to shout in victory.
"Alan!"
Alan and Sam both stop and turn around to see the one and only Denny Crane. "Where have you been? I didn't have my scotch buddy last night!" Alan rolls his eyes and purses his lips as Denny talks about how upset he is that he hasn't been there.
"Denny, now is not the time to talk. I'm only here for a minute and we are both leaving right after." Alan turns around and continues to walk to his office. Denny follows the two close behind with a confused look on his face. "Alan! Alan! What's going on?" Denny raised his voice, causing some people to look over and watch the conversation.
"Denny, please. I can't talk right now." Alan puts his hand up as he tells Denny to stop, and walks in to his office. Sam sits down on a small couch in the corner as he waits for Alan to get what he needs. Denny won't stop bugging Alan, trying to get some information on what is going on.
"Denny! For the last time, now is not the time. Please, just leave." Alan is angry now, staring at Denny pointing at the door until he walks out of his office. He turns back around and searches for what needs. Sam is sitting there, waiting patiently, looking at everything in Alan's office. It's taking longer than he expected, Alan is now sitting at his desk, writing things down.
"Shouldn't we get back?" Sam says.
"I am almost done. Don't worry." Alan is focused on writing notes down while looking at a large textbook.
Sam sighs and decides to lay down until he dozes off against the shoulder of the couch. Alan sits for another hour or so studying the book and writing things down. He's so focused on reading that he doesn't hear his work phone ringing or people from the front desk speaking over the intercom built into the phone. It continues to ring, until something finally catches his attention. There's some sort of commotion going on down the hall at the front desk. A man is yelling things that Alan can't understand and he peaks out of his office to see what's going on. He sees a large man about the same height as him, pushing people off of him as they try to restrain him.
