Fatima POV:
“Hey Girl,” I said to Nakya while hugging her.
"Sup, have you seen Omega?”
“Nah, just got here. Bruh, today has not been my day.” I start explaining to her the morning events when Omega finally shows up.
“Where’s your pass, Ms.Garrett?" I said, mocking the gym teacher.
“Shut up!” she was laughing. “I woke up late and I had to walk all the way here.” That was the only good thing about living in a small community. No matter where you lived, the school wasn't too far from your house.
All three of us walk together to gym class. I am like the alpha leader in our group, squad, gang, or whatever you want to call it. We are always together during school hours, and usually spend the weekends together. We never talk to girls outside the squad unless we need to. We just feel that more friends means more drama. We don't need that. Especially in high school. Gym had the regular boring routines. After changing back into our regular clothes, it was time for second period. All three of us had science next.
Whenever we walked together I was always in front, Omega would be to my left, and Nakya would be to my right. They aren't my sidekicks or anything. That’s just something we planned as a group. I’m tired of people thinking that I am the group decider. Anytime something happens, I make sure both of them have a say. The only reason why I’m so nice to these girls is because they were there for me when nobody else was. When I came here during the middle of freshman year I was new, shy, and often got made fun of for being “too”dark. Now during my junior year everyone wants to be friends with me. That’s the strange thing about life.
They pick on you today and be best buddies tomorrow.
