Blaire's POV

The next day, when I went to work my face had visibly improved but I was still getting second looks from people. I ignored them and walked to the elevator. Nick was waiting for me when I stepped off.

"Morning Blaire," he said.

He was my boss, sorta middle aged, maybe around forty-five or so; great looking for his age although he should start watching the weight he was piling onto his stomach.

"Morning Nick, you got my e-mail?" I asked as we walked ; his office was right next to mine so we were going in the same direction.

I had been given an office when I'd only been an intern, something which had never gone well with my co-workers. He had told them he saw great potential in me and wanted me to be close for coaching but I think he just wanted to save himself the backlash of anyone hearing he had put Felipe Castillo's daughter in a cubicle.

"Yeah, I did," he replied coming into my office with me.

"A response will be great next time," I said drily. He knew how cranky Kane got when things were not done in time. Personally I had no inclination to deal with his royal an in the derriere and was not masochistic enough to invite his ire.

"I'm a busy man sweetcheeks, besides I know I get nothing but perfection from you," he smiled seating on one of the client chairs in front of my desk as I went to open the curtains.

I rolled my eyes at his response.

More like an excuse if you asked me.

"I still need your general comment at the bottom of that analysis," I told him sitting down.

"You look hot in that dress Blaire."

I frowned. Huh? Where the hell was that coming from?

"Thank you Nick. Your general comment?"

"I'm sure you can come up with something," he drawled with a lazy smile, his eyes raking over me distractedly.

"I can't review something that I wrote in the first place," I snapped now exasperated. What was he doing in the CEO chair if he couldn't deal with it?

"I hired you because you seemed like someone flexible, someone who could improvise...don't disappoint me sweetcheeks."

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Don't put my ethics to the test Nick. What you want me to do will risk my reputation if it ever gets out. Why can't you just write the review?"

"Aaaagh, fine. You're no fun. Anyway, the reason I'm here is to tell you we were invited to dinner with Copper Enterprises. You worked hard on their books and helped them regain a lot of profit that could have been lost and he wants you to come," he said.

Yeah, I remembered Coleman Enterprises, one of the most trying jobs of my lifetime the fraud had just been so concealed that it had taken me months to unravel the mess.

"Alright," I sighed, not positive about my decision but not up for the argument, cause like seriously who wanted to go out looking like a freaking ogre? My face was still swollen.

"Good, I'll collect you at seven. You can have a half-day and get yourself something pretty to wear."

"Mr Carter?" Berger said from the door, "Mr Kane is on the phone for you."

I couldn't suppress my evil smile, let him deal with the beast himself.

He stood up," Later sweetcheeks."

He was at the door when he turned around.

"And do something about that face," he winked.

Jerk. I shot my middle finger at him.
