A week later
2:54 AM
Sophia's POV
It's been a week now.
A week since one of my best friend was found in her locker, dead.
I still couldn't deal with that, but I've been told that I have to move on and focus on my own life.
That's what they've been telling us.
To just continue living life normally like nothing happened.
The thing that makes me sad and scared the most is that it was a murder.
Who would kill an innocent teenage girl?
A warm tear rolled down my cheek.
The picture of her,
laying in her locker with her eyes half open,
while bugs were flying around her dried blood couldn't get out my head.
I noticed that the window was open and the storm was coming up,
so I slowly went to close it, when I heard heavy footsteps.
My heart started beating faster.
It couldn't be my parents.
They're in Europe right now.
The footsteps were louder each second.
I took the closest weapon I could find which happened to be a candlestick.
I saw my door knob starting to twist.
My heart was running a marathon by now.
I couldn't breathe.
I was prepared to hit, whatever creature, was coming in my room when I heard a loud drop.
I heard the footsteps fade away.
I wasn't moving until I was hundred precent sure they were gone.
I took a deep breath, and went to the door making sure to turn on the light.
I saw a polaroid picture covered in blood which I was sure belonged to my best friend. I couldn't see it clear but it looked a bit like a body.
That's when I dropped the picture.
I couldn't move.
It was Millie's dead body in the pool.
My heart was beating extremely fast again.
Next to it it was a note.
It said:
"you're next, pretty girl"
My whole body was shaking.
The murderer was in my house, only five meters away from me.
And I'm it's next target.
I dropped to the floor, crying.
This left me scarred.Jaeden's POV
8:00 AM
I was getting ready for school when I got a call from an unknown number.
"This is weird" I mumbled to myself as I was doubting whether or not to pick up.
This was giving me creepy vibes, especially after Millie.
I wanted to cry, but I held my tears back.
She would wanted us to stay strong for her.
I shivered as I clicked the accept button.
"Uhh, hello?" I said.
"Hey Jaeden." A robotic voice said.
My heart skipped a beat.
"Um, who are you?"
I asked a little scared.
And instead of hearing that voice again I heard a scream.
Screaming and begging for mercy.
I would recognize that British accent everywhere.
It was a sound of Millie getting killed.
At this moment I was crying, terrified.
"What do you want from me?" I managed to say through the tears.
That's when that person hung up.
I was staring at the ceiling, my hands were shaking.
I got a text message.
I wasn't brave enough to look at it.
My body couldn't move.
But I knew I had to do it.
It was from an unknown number again.
I wanted to be anywhere else but here right now.
I was staring at my phone for ages.
I somehow managed to read the text.
It said to tell Lilia the truth.
What happened that night.
Or else.
She would end up like Millie.
I signed, not believing my eyes
"I will do it today. I have to."
I said, but I knew I could never do it.
"It's always better to tell the truth, even tho it might lead to a fight.
But a fight is the least heartbreaking thing that could happen right now.
And I learnt that the hard way."[650 words]
