Ed's POV

Elevator buttons and morning air,

Stranger silence makes me wanna take the stairs,

If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares,

But right now,

My time is theirs

Taylor's angelic voice shook me awake. It's three in the morning here, but it's noon where Taylor is. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and dialed her number.

"Hey buddy!" Her sweet voice answered the phone.

"Happy birthday!" I said, and she giggled.

"Why thank you! I wasn't expecting any calls from you today, certainly not at this hour. It's still early in the morning in London, isn't it?" She asked, astonished.

"Yeah, three AM here, but I had to call my best friend to wish her a very happy birthday." I told her, but that's really not all of the reasons as to why I woke up so early.

"Well, thank you Ed, it means a lot to me." She said happily.

"Of course, Taylor. So, how's your day been?" I asked.

"It's been pretty cool, I've had loads of fun. I miss you though." She said.

"Yeah, I miss you too. But we'll see each other soon enough, and-" I said, but faked a cough. It sounded pretty convincing. "Sorry, I'm coming down with something." I lied, throwing my cover story into action.

"Oh, it's okay, I'll let you get back to sleep then, let you get better." She said.

"Okay, I'll call you when I wake up and feel better. I'm sorry if I sleep through the rest of your birthday, I'm really not feeling well." I apologized, coughing again.

"No, it's okay, just get yourself feeling better. And wait...before you go..." She said, and I could hear shuffling around, and then a door shutting and it's lock clicking. "I love you, Ed, thanks so much for calling me, it made my day, I love you so much." She said quietly.

"Of course, Taylor, I love you too. Have a wonderful day, love, you deserve it."

"Awe, thanks! I totally will, you just made it amazing. I'll let you go then, bye! I love you."

"I love you too, Taylor. Bye!" I said, and hung up. I laid in bed for a few more moments, and as tired as I was, I stood and changed out of my pajamas and into some day clothes. I grabbed my suitcase that I had packed last night, and ran downstairs and out the door. I threw the suitcase into the back of the car and then drove to the airport, excited for what I was going to do. I drove quickly, and soon enough I was parking my car and running into the terminal and through the gates. I ran through the gates and then boarded my private jet, giving my luggage to an attendant. I flopped down into one of the seats, and tried to relax a little. I've got a long fourteen hour flight ahead of me, and I doubt I'll get a wink of sleep now that I've got so much adrenaline coursing through my veins.

I reclined the seat and put my headphones in, listening to Taylor's albums on shuffle. I smiled as I dreamed about what she might say when she sees me, I can only hope she'll be as excited as I am.

Taylor's POV

My birthday was great! I spent the whole day hanging out with my friends, I had an absolute blast. I was so glad Ed called me, it made me feel so special that even if he couldn't come, he still woke up in the middle of the night to call me.
