Chapter 2

"Riley? Are you coming are not?" Yuki asks, annoyed that I still haven't answered her in the past five minutes.

I shuffle to my bathroom, "alright, I'll be there in twenty. Give me just some time to get my coffee first, I'll meet you there afterwards."

She huffs in response, and clicks the line dead. My group of friends decided to hang out over by the skating rink, even though they mostly ogle over the guys there than skate. Yuki could be labelled as my life saver. She pulled me through my hardest times in life, from boy problems to personal issues.

Once my morning preps were done, I grabbed my green military jacket and walked down to my favorite coffee shop in the world, Melody's Cafe. It was destiny calling me, because ever since my first cup of espresso there, I have been going back as a regular customer.

The bell chimes as I enter, and the line up slowly moves upward. Melody, the owner, smiles at me as I near the front. The burly man in front takes his cup and leaves, just as a boy with hair dark shade of brown cuts in front of me.

Shock rushes around me. Was it the fact that I am standing here freezing to death, or he barged in? His attire was simple, nothing more than a beanie, a thin white shirt, and jeans. Can I call him crazy in Vancouver's November  weather?

He casually starts telling his order to Melody, who is just as shocked as I am.

I tap his shoulder, "Excuse me, but the line starts back there."

He turns around to face me. A glimpse of memory zaps my brain suddenly, but I couldn't tell what it was. His eyes widen at the sight of me, I raise one eyebrows back, "stop looking at me like that please."

His posture straightens, "right." At that moment, his features became more prominent to me. Short, hair, brown orbs, and a define body structure.

His drink appears on the counter in exchange for his payment, and he leaves without another word.

"Weird," I mumbled.

"Riley!" The group of girls rushes over to me, squeezing me into a hug.

"How have you been?"

"I got a pair of short on sale!"

"Gordon was here."

"Wanna go to the mall later?"

"Woah, rewind that. Did you say Gordon is here?" I asked.

One of them nods, "yeah, he 'was' here with his friends, but he left already."

Another smirks, "he kept asking where you were, and we told him you're coming. But his friends pulled him away and then left." She teasingly nudges me in the side.

"It is so cute though," Mia sighs, "you guys have been together for half a year now and are still lovey-dovey about each other."

I smile, "jealous much?"

"Never," she gasps dramatically. She can be such a drama queen sometimes.

I insinuate on, "yeah, like that time when you were jealous that your 'guy' went out with another girl instead of you?"

Instantly, her cheeks flame red, "shut up."

Yuki and I are the only ones who know about Mia's little secret crush. He's only in a few classes with me, and he seems to be a really nice person. She wouldn't admit she has a bit of feelings for him, but everytime we bring him up, she gets really defensive.

But you get the point. He is a topic she doesn't like to chat around, being shy around it and such.

A few weeks ago, he asked a girl on a date, not that I am sure they are official right now, and Mia got really emotionally upset about it. She's been trying to get his attention back then, but all he thought of her was his friend and nothing more.

There's still a part of her longing for him to love her, but as the time passed, her love grew stronger.

We were pretty hungry, so we decided to share a large pizza among the four of us. Mia was fairly tanned, and blond highlights sleeks down to the tip of her hair. A complete fashionista. Boy crazy fantasizing girl. Fan fiction fangirling girl. Your vampire and werewolves type of girl. Yep. You name it.

"Where did Gordon take you last weekend?" Yuki pipes up.

Last week was our 6 month anniversary. Crazy to think about it, but I have been with the sweetest boyfriend ever for half a year already.

"Um, we went to his family cabin by the beach. It was really beautiful and our room had a gorgeous view."

"Alone?"

"Yeah."

Mia smirks at me with a raised eyebrow, "anything 'special' happened?" If I was thinking what she was implying, ew.

"No," I reply, "I don't fantasize about those things like you do with 'him'."

She flusters at my response and continues eating her pizza.

Yuki pipes into our conservation, "so what did you two do then?"

Our mini getaway was simple, yet special. His family beach cabin has an insanely gorgeous view of the ocean. It was nice hearing the soothing crash of the waves when you sleep and wake up when the big city is too noisy for that.

He took me along a beautiful stroll by the shore, and another hike up a forest trail. I honestly couldn't believe the things I was missing out all my life. The green environment gave me a different, happy vibe and it has been a long time since I had those calm moments.

Unfortunately, the first night was pretty rough and stormy. So, we decided to stay in and watch a few movies instead.

I dozed off a bit throughout the movie, not because it was boring. Gordon assumed I was asleep, so he kisses me on the forehead for a few seconds, before whispering 'I love you, Riley'.

I wanted to tell him 'I love you' too, but my body gained control and dragged me under a sleep.

Mia makes dovey-lovey faces over me, while Yuki just smiles at me. Sappy story. The end.

I'm so sorry this story took forever to be updated! I've been working on some good ideas for my unpublished story, and this one was pushed aside.

I didn't want to rush this story, so I needed the time to make it to an 'okay' chapter length.
