I woke up and panicked, shooting up staring hit when I realized I wasn't sleeping in by bed, and my eyes darted frantically around. It took me a few moments to analyze my surroundings, and recollect my memories.
My mind went through the exersise Katniss Everdeen did when she had to convince herself of who she was while in District 13, as it always does when I am confused. Force of habit.
I am Leah May. I am 13 years old. I am currently trapped in what seems to be a parallel universe that contains Transformers Prime. I am captive on The Nemesis, and stay with Starscream wherever the idiot goes.
Sighing, still tired, I stretched my arms out, satisfied only when my shoulders responded with a loud crack, and I felt some of the stiffness leave my body. I had fallen asleep on Screamer's shoulder, that much was clear, and had apparently been placed underneath his berth to rest. Well, it certainly looked like the underneath of his berth. Faint muttering led me to believe the mech was in recharge, and then possibilities became endless.
And then, I recalled my predicament again, and they became slightly more impossible.
I could stand up straight beneath the large-slab-excuse-for-a-bed, and winced slightly as my knees cracked with protest. I'd have to find a better way of sleeping without waking up so stiff and sore. I'd also eventually have to fill a lot of human needs. I made a mental note to mention it to my guardian today.
My stomach started making angry noises at me.
Why haven't you fed me yet?
"Shut up and man up. I know you haven't eaten in, I don't know, maybe like, 14 hours or whatever, but stop being so needy and self centred," I scolded my body part, muttering.
My sisters would call me crazy when they caught me speaking to other body parts, and give me this look that said 'are you even a part of this family?', but it's another habit I have failed to defeat.
Starscream murmured and rolled over in his sleep, and I managed to step back far enough to catch his expression, peaceful and happy. This was a rare moment. Slipping my scrappy 3-year-old Samsung flip phone out of my pocket, I snapped a picture.
That was a definite wallpaper.
But I had to wake him up before I did anything (sadly), and I'm not sure how much he'd approve of my plans for today. I wanted to see Ivy, the only other human being on this ship, and have a......conversation, with her guardian. Maybe old bucket head wouldn't mind if Shockwave babysat both of us.
That's where I could have my fun.
And convince him to get us food somehow.
My stomach seemed to remind me with another growl.
"Yes. And food," I agreed. I was not always.....wise......in the ways of logic, but when I had to act it, I could.
I sighed and cracked my knuckles, before clearing all sleepiness from my throat.
"Starscream!" I sang rather loudly, hoping to wake him, "get up!"
His optics fluttered open, an odd sight to see, and they narrowed as they fixated on me.
"Human? Ugh," his eyes closed again, then shot back open, genuinely shocked, "a human?!"
The mech raised his arm, aiming his cannon at me, and, panicking, I somersaulted back underneath his berth as he fired. The explosion, nonetheless, still threw me into the wall.
"Starscream! You fragging idiot. It's me, Leah! Calm yourself. Primus," I called out, nursing my soreness, only re-emerging when he chuckled nervously.
