Things with Calum and you had been so much better- so much stronger- since the fight. With every lingering touch and every lingering kiss, you were reminded of why you both started dating in the first place and why you had fallen for him in the 5 years you had been together- 3 of them married.

"Surprise, my love.. Happy anniversary."

You smiled up at him, happiness radiating through you, and stepped further out the balcony door. You let your gaze roam the vicinity.

Calum had outdone himself in every way possible, setting up the most amazing romantic getaway while still managing to keep it all at home. Suddenly, you knew why he had spent all day trying to keep you away from the house, from spas to gift cards to promises of a beautiful dinner out. He had spent all his time to make the night absolutely perfect.

Roses and forget-me-nots in a simple, white vase sat in the center of a black, silk covered table. Two metal cloches sat on opposite ends and you swear you could feel your mouth water at the thought of the food underneath. A bottle of red wine sat between two wine glasses. You started toward the table to sit but Calum grabbed your hand and pulled you closer, a warm smile on his face.

"Ah, not yet.. There's one last thing.."

He flipped a switch on the wall and you watched the balcony light up before your eyes. Long strands of white fairy lights twisted between beams and plants, covering the area. You were speechless, amazed at the amount of attention he had shown and the amount of love in your heart.

You felt his hands slide around your waist and you placed yours on top, rubbing circles with your thumbs as a large smile filled your face. He kissed your neck lightly as you giggled and led you by hand to the table.

"God, this is beautiful.."

True gentleman he was, he helped you in your seat and even uncovered your dish for you, watching your eyes light up at your favorite food- cheese stuffed ravioli from Olive Garden. You laughed lightly to yourself and glanced up at Calum to see him already looking at you.

"I knew you liked them a lot so I decided I would pick up some instead of burn our kitchen down attempting to make them as good as the original."

He scratched the back of his neck, a shy smile on his face.

"I would've loved them either way but thank you, baby .. Happy Anniversary."

You grabbed his hand across the table and squeezed, a small gesture to show how much it all meant to you. To how much he meant to you.

"Let's eat before it gets cold, hm?"

He dug in while you sat there, staring at him in awe. You couldn't believe you'd ended up with him, even after all these years. He was undoubtedly perfect in every sense of the word.

You traced his skin with your eyes, zoning out to focus on nothing else but his gorgeous chocolate brown eyes and his beautiful soft, pink lips and the cute little freckles dotting his face like mini constellations. You were so goddamn in love with him and you knew marrying him was the right decision, even with all the fights and all the nights spent crying over stupid things. He was your soulmate and you knew you could never see yourself with anyone else.

Finally noticing your inattention to the meal, he looked up at you, a confused but adorable smile on his face that you had grown to love and you felt your heart swell further.

"What?"

You looked down at your food and shook your head, "Nothing. Everything is wonderful." You took a bite as he poured the wine and when the glasses clinked together, your face started to hurt from all the smiling you had done.

You slyly slid out a small pouch from your clutch when he was finishing the last bite and untied the strings, slipping out a small plastic piece. You placed it lightly on the table and slid it closer, watching as Calum's eyes finally hit it. It took his brain a second to register but when he did, he threw his head up to look you in the eyes. His were wide and his mouth kept mouthing words but nothing would come out. You felt your mouth curve up at him softly, eyes twinkling under the fairy lights sprinkled around you.

"Surprise, my love. You're gonna be a father."

And when he picked you up and twirled you around, giving you the sweetest kisses all over your face and all over your neck, you couldnt help but think of that simple little word again.

You could help but think that everything was finally
Perfect.
